Does Joe Wilson seem a little "Slow" to anyone else? |
|
It seems to me like he really has trouble expressing himself.
Like he has something wrong with him.
Anyone else pick up that?

actually speaking. His speech and movements indicate to me that he was impaired. May be his usual state, for all I know. Or, as above, he's just an idiot. Can't ever rule that out, either....Probably a presidential candidate, too.

3. Well, it isn't your imagination. His "You lie!" outburst was meant for a Pres. Bush speech in '03... |
|
I kid, I kid.
...
It was for one Bush gave in '02. Yeah, he's a little slow on the uptake. :P

congresscritters that question.
People have stupid ideas, but that doesn't mean they aren't intelligent. The reason I wondered about Wilson was the way he talked when recording a fundraising spot after the incident. He had a flat affect, and read the teleprompter like a stupid robot.
My friend said that he is really a stupid person. She told me that most of the others at least can talk to her coherently whether they agree with her or not.

24. Politics is theater, and he's a bad actor, or a very good one. |
|
Take *, for example. Not the brightest guy in the world, but he was constantly pulling an "aw shucks", Jimmy Stewart-esque, "everyman" routine, hiding behind the act.
Wilson's been a lawyer and a judge off and on since '72. That's over 30 years of experience in rather sharp critical thinking. I'm guessing his flat affect, and outbursts, are not the rantings of a fool, but calculated efforts made by somebody with years of experience on manipulating others.

29. Heard him on POTUS on XM the other day |
|
He claimed that a statement of support he issued for Obama's Afghan policy proves that his outburst wasn't a partisan stunt. How the one precludes the other, I don't know, but that's the claim.
He then went on to lionize a trio of US commanders, starting with General McKiernan, moving to General Odierno and finishing with General Petraeus, who he described as the "penultimate." I don't know how you're penultimate when you're the final name in a list of three, but that's what he said.
He then went on to also lionize Hamid Karzai, who he described as "Afghanistan's George Washington." When the interview was done, the reporter then showed himself to be quite the idiot, or someone who has not been paying attention, when he incredulously said "I think that's probably the first and last time Karzai's been compared to George Washington." If you recall, the press kept on uncritically passing on the Bush administration's comparison between Karzai and Washington in the period after his election in 2004. What the reporter did get right, though, is that no one, except the most ridiculous neocons, still make that comparison.
He's none too bright, though about 15 IQ points higher than most of his Republican constituents (I grew up in his district, so I can say this unequivocally). There is something wrong with him, though. He may have a personality disorder, and I suspect he was abused as a child.
