1. It certainly was a great show & seeing Spitzer |
|
just broke my heart, that we had to lose him as our governor. It's a shame. But glad to see him back on the scene, he has a lot to offer. All of Maher's guest provided for a very informative evening, from Mike Moore, Krugman, and John Walters who just cracked me up! Mahers "New Rules" was absolutely brilliant.

He should shutup, go away, and finish his time in purgatory!

3. I'm finding Bills disappointment in Obama very grating. I'm with Moore and his adult |
|
stance on how things are going, vs the petty he hasn't done everything I want now Bill Maher. Krugman is self indulgent and full of himself. He can't stand it that Obama doesn't consult with him daily. He totally misread how the stimulus would work. The economy is recovering and in 2010 when the majority of the stimulus will come into play it will give the boost that is needed with the right timing.
Spitzer is trying hard to polish his image.

5. Bill never sees the forest for the trees. |

Like many progressives, he wants what he wants right now but doesn't have the foresight to consider what it will take to get it done. He only considers his option and can't understand why the President can't waive his magic wand and "get it done" right now.
He'd probably enjoy living in a dictatorship -- as long as he agreed with the dictator.

7. It depressed me a little |

It was a great conversation, and I think both of them really pinned down what is wrong with the American economy and our current incarnation of capitalism.
However, think how difficult it is in our current political structure to get even the smallest of reforms accomplished. Then think about the massive reforms needed to get this country back on track. Even as I nodded along to the conversation, I couldn't help but think "We'll never do any of this. We're doomed."
At least, not without a mini political revolution. The GoP is too ideologically decimated to become any kind of productive political force in the near future, and the Democrats are too busy gorging themselves on power to ever truly bother.
It was disheartening.
Great, great conversation last night, though. Everyone should see it.
