President Barack Obama used a dinner-time address to the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation to make an impassioned plea for health care reform, placing it in the tradition of the civil rights struggle.

Obama, who last year addressed the group as one of its members, was hailed as "our great president" by caucus chair Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.). The crowd was jubilant as Obama came to the stage with first lady Michelle Obama, who Rep. Kendrick Meek introduced, saying she had "brought a new flavor to this country."

Delivering the keynote address at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s Annual Phoenix Awards to a group of about 3,000 people at a black tie dinner at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Obama gave a speech that at several points evoked his remarks at the NAACP convention in July.

The president opened with a fiery civil rights talk, ticking off racial disparities, calling for greater enforcement of civil rights laws and saying that the new White House Office of Urban affairs is working to address inequality.

Strong colors, simple lines, fine patterns and subtle textures flatter her most.

13. They did a cute little impromptu dance at the end
When the President finished speaking, the band played "Signed, Sealed, Delivered." As they were walking off, Michelle started bopping and then the President busted a dignified little move. It was lovely.

18. i think she publicly denounced pantihose.
i am sure they do not fit her with those hips. but really, he has 5 suits and a tux, and she needs a different outfit every day. even if she is being bombarded ever day with free stuff, it would wear me out just to pick. men just do not know how easy they have it.

On the View she said with her long legs she has a hard time finding hose that fit. Being a taller woman I know exactly what she means.

27. Pantyhose are out
And even as a 29 year old girl, it took me a while to realize it. My mom raised me to always wear pantyhose with a skirt or dress. I remember when I was 22, I was out to dinner with my girlfriend and she was like "are you wearing pantyhose???" LOL!

36. Quite like JFK
"I do not think it altogether inappropriate for me to introduce myself," said the President of the U.S. to members of the Paris press. "I am the man who accompanied Jacqueline Kennedy to Paris." President Kennedy was not exaggerating: In the eyes of the world, his talks with Charles de Gaulle might take on historic significance, but to the people of Paris their deliberations were secondary. From the moment of her smiling arrival at Orly Airport, the radiant young First Lady was the Kennedy who really mattered.

As the presidential motorcade made its way through the jammed, flag-draped streets, great crowds of people pressed close to her limousine for a glimpse. A 101-gun salute shook the city and was all but drowned out by the rousing cry, "Vive Jacqueline!"

http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,938093,00.html

Kennedy reiterated that famous line in Fort Worth on the morning of Nov. 22, 1963, saying he got the same feeling there. "Nobody wonders what Lyndon and I wear," he added.

42. I read somewhere that Jack Kennedy had his clothes tailored on Savile Row in London.
As a result, he was always impeccably dressed. He tried to play it down, of course, so he wouldn't look too "elitist" which he really was in a good way...

44. I know Nancy Pelosi gave the opening remarks,
but do other races go to this Caucus? I'm not a racist, and I voted for Obama. I was thinking if there was a White Caucus, there would be something said about it. Forgive me if I sound naive, but I've always wondered about this.

They have music awards for black people, black entertainment shows, etc. When there are say country music awards, or the Emmy's etc people of all races can win-they don't exclude anyone. If there was White Music awards, it would be talked about in racist terms. Some of the other races (Hispanic)are starting to do this race only club stuff, too.

I've heard everyday is Christmas for white people, so it's OK to do this-because some white people (not me)have had it really easy for quite some time.????? Is that why it's OK?
I'm a minority at my job now, and this guy the other day (he is Hispanic) said I'm gonna have to start picking cotton soon-implying that they are going to start treating white people bad. I know he was half kidding, but can anyone explain how this works to to me?
