Facebook Is Out Of Control
I don't know how to take this fucking poll on Facebook:

Yes, a Facebook Poll actually asks the question "should obama be killed?"

:grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr:

1. You don't know how to take that???
Ummmmmm.... I would take the person who posted that as a danger to the POTUS.

5. I didn't vote in teh poll
but what about all the people who voted yes in it, too?

Should Facebook be forced to give out their information to the SS too?

2. Yup. Totally. I wonder who owns Facebook?
I don't have an account there but I do have a Twitter one. I am too lazy to post pics and update something like that constantly.

3. If that was Bush it would be pulled scrubbed and everyone involved would get a visit from the FBI.
Edited on Mon Sep-28-09 08:57 AM by YOY
If I was a man with nothing to lose I would post the same with Cheney/Bush/Rumsfeld/Rice/Rove and watch how fast a visit from the FBI comes.

Oh wait...I just want them to stand trial for war crimes...not to die violently...silly "librul" me.

31. From what I understand it is currently being investigated by the FBI.
I would be shocked if any president could have a poll posted like that that did not lead to a federal investigation.

4. when you click the "report as abuse" link - it actually requires that you grant the poll taker acces
to all your personal data including friend lists, and groups. I'm furious.

19. report it to the secret service
I wouldn't waste my time reporting it to facebook. They aren't going to protect our president.

6. Do not click on the "report as offensive" link.
That only sends an E-Mail to the application developers and, at the same time, adds the application to your profile!

Facebook itself needs to pull this entire application; this is not the first time this kind of shit has been pulled by these "Polls" people. Remember the "should gays be killed?" poll question.

Farcebook would be wise to remove it.

9. Just E-Mailed to abuse@facebook.com and ntac@secretservice.gov
Attached is a screenshot taken earlier today of a "poll" being run by the Facebook Poll application: The question is "Should Obama be killed?" The possible choices are "Yes," "Maybe," "If he cuts my healthcare," and "No."

This strikes me as an obvious threat against the President of the United States, and deserves to be investigated.

This is only the latest in offensive "polls" from this application. By polling about the possible killing of the President, this application's developers are way over the line and this entire application deserves to be pulled.

The "Polls" application provides no way to report offensive content without adding that application to a user's profile, which I obviously choose not to do because I don't want to be associated with this trash.

11. Here's a link that names the founder & a major investor.
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/25/technology/25facebook.html

I wouldn;t go that route though. I'd send the FB link directly to the SS and let them track it down. They're much better at that kind of stuff than we are.

22. If you're using a Windows system
press "PRINT SCREEN." It will capture it to your clipboard so you can paste it into Photoshop, Paint, or E-Mail.

14. But report it by E-Mail as I said above.
The application itself is ripe for this kind of abuse. Its developers have no real way of policing it (or, perhaps, don't care to) and you can't report anything as offensive without adding the application yourself and thus earning the developers more money.

E-Mail abuse@facebook.com and demand that they pull the "Polls" application entirely.

I've already E-Mailed the Secret Service.

I just think that in this day age you can trace absolutely anyone who posts anywhere; maybe the FBI is running this one. Just som'n to think about.

23. CNN and ABC would just ignore it.
Fox would report the results as scientific evidence that Obama is hated.

Maybe Olbermann.

But knowing that Farcebook tracks absolutely everything, I'm certain they could track down the user.

25. The page won't load... it may have been taken down...
I tried voting No and the page just hanged... I then tried again and it's not loading at all. 777 had voted and I'd love to see the IP addresses of those who voted Yes.

Application "Polls" is unavailable

The application "Polls" is temporarily unavailable due to an issue with its third-party developer. We are investigating the situation and apologize for any inconvenience.

27. Who should be more worried: the poll poster, or the people who answered "yes"? Could this be...
... a ploy to ferret out potential or actual eliminationists?

A big hats off to GottaLaff at the Political Carnival blog for being the first on the intertubes to blow the whistle on this "poll."

28. No, some PEOPLE are out of control.
FB is just a public venue and you have to filter out the garbage sometimes. Just like on TV, de-select anything you don't like to watch or like me, choose to watch the looney so you know how bad things can be. The poll was removed and the account suspended w/the Secret Service investigating. It's not FB's fault there are assholes who use their tools and they do try to to stop bad things when they happen (they have to be notified, of course).

Whenever any of my mafia begins to post this kind of crap (which is what it is) they get hidden from my feed. Easy as pie.

29. The internet will force us to re-evaluate our attitude to free speech
Speech was always controlled by media. If you couldn't get it on television or printed and the distributed, you could say anything and nobody would really hear you. With the internet even the most isolated and resourceless person can be heard around the world.

30. They took it off. I see no way to police every single post real time.
It is huge. We have mods, but even then someone could take a snapshot before something was caught and it would look terrible.
