REPUBLICANS POUNCE ON THE IRAN NEWS

Republicans are using the revelation of a secret nuclear facility in Iran -- something that U.S. intelligence has known about for about a year -- to criticize the Obama administration's willingness to talk to Iran.

House Minority Whip Eric Cantor was first out of the gate with a statement:

"The existence of a second uranium enrichment facility not only undercuts the Administration’s policy toward Iran, but leaves little doubt that terrorist nations are not to be trusted or negotiated with diplomatically. Congress should act immediately to give the President the tools he needs to implement sanctions on Iran by passing the bipartisan Iran Refined Petroleum Sanctions Act."

Next was House Minority Leader John Boehner:

"The United States should not participate in direct negotiations with Iran – negotiations that will further legitimize this brutal regime – until we have answers to these important questions. Unfortunately, the Administration has not, to date, given Iran reason to believe we are serious about preventing them from acquiring or developing a nuclear capability, especially in light of the Administration’s recent policy decision regarding missile defense in Central Europe and its public remarks about Israel and the Middle East peace process"

Unfortunately for them, the American people have already decided the matter.
Candidate Obama was CLEAR that he would be willing to sit down and talk to our enemies in order to maintain peace. His was the option the electorate chose.

I would suggest the GOP focus their attention on improving health care for their constituents. Leave the multi-tasking to the only man who's proven he can handle it.

4. Unrecommend?
Unrecommende silly or irrelevant posts, not interesting ones that quote statements you disagree with! That's at least my understanding of how unrecommend is supposed to function.

As to the Cantor and company: to these people diplomacy seems to be a dirty word!

5. I want to ask Cantor if he will "man up" and enlist for active duty on the front lines
if we give him more of the endless war he craves. For that matter, any R who steps forward to make similar demands should be required to put on the uniform and get out there to fight at the side of those they send.

6. One thing they seem to be forgetting
is that it was the BUSH administrration that first learned of this secret enrichment facility, and even Bush (thankfully) did not respond with a bombing campaign or petroleum sanctions.

No objective observer can describe Obama's handling of the Iran issue to date as anything less than masterful.

This is just more evidence that the Republicans will critice whatever
Obama does, no matter what he does!
