GOP wackjob congressmen still want the birth cert
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/09/28/trent-franks-obama-should_n_302337.html

Dave Weigel of The Washington Independent caught up with Congressman Trent Franks (R-Az.) at the "How to Take Back America" conference and offered him a chance to put himself firmly outside the 'birther' camp. Franks instead used the opportunity to acknowledge that he had once been presented with information that caused him to question President Obama's citizenship, and that Obama should release his long-form birth certificate to clear up any remaining doubts

WHAT DOUBTS?! His name is in the damn paper, listed in the births page! It can't get any clearer than that!

...Probably, Barack Obama could solve this problem and make the birthers, you know, back off, by simply showing us his long-form birth certificate. That'd solve the problem. There's some other issue, I don't know what it is, that he doesn't want people to see the birth certificate on.

1) Nothing's gonna satiate the birther brigade if they're willing to believe in hoax Kenyan crap rather than what the state of HI put out. They'd probably claim that was fake too.
2) Goodwins law violation: Yes, we could cave to the birthers. Following them, why shouldn't Obama cave to the NeoNazis and let them turn Idaho into their own private enclave?
3) The article states that rep. Franks has seen the evidence in favor of Obama's US citizenship. If the evidence is incontrovertible, then why listen to the kooks?

It goes to show that the loons are calling the shots in the GOP and every day their organizing power gets stronger. If encouraged enough they will primary every GOP rep that doesn't toe their lines (crack lines, too) thus making even the most weaksauce Dem a virtual shoe-in in the general.

In more important news, from the same site, Greenspan is now backing one of Obama's keystones for financial reform, the Consumer Protection agency.

1. They can huff and stamp their feet and piss and moan and hold their breath
until they turn blue, but Obama will not acknowledge their idiocy. Nor should he--he's got a country to run and a colossal mess left by his imbecilic predecessor to clean up.
