Senator Nelson's New Demands
"Sen. Ben Nelson (D-NE) now thinks 65 votes is a figure "that would provide him a comfort level in terms of establishing a level of bipartisan support" for a health care reform bill, the Lincoln Journal-Star reports.

Said Nelson: "I think anything less than that would challenge its legitimacy."

This guy is acting like a fool and he OBVIOUSLY does not care about the health and well-being of the American People. Nebraskans, write to him now and tell him that governing should not be comfortable!

3. That's swell of him
Now he needs to get off his fat government sponsored ass and get us 5 more votes for Health Care/Insurance Reform with a public option. Talk is cheap!

11. No question that would be beneficial to the party over the long run- and perhaps the short as well
Senators like Nelson make the party appear weak- and reinforces the perception is that it stands for nothing. Or that "they're all alike."

7. So Ben Nelson is saying that a majority is not a majority.
What an asshole. I'm so fucking sick of these faux Democrats and their apparent choice of big insurance over the people. Assholes, assholes, assholes.

9. Why not say 101 votes are required?
Maybe we can get the Dems to enact a change where things need 100 votes to pass laws plus the President of the Senate. I mean I would hate to see the legislation have its legitimacy challenged since we all know that legislation is only held up in the courts based on the percentage of the vote it got in the Senate. So if it only gets 51% of the vote, obviously 49% of the bill is illegitimate. The court will use its best judgment to determine what 49% of the words from the bill will be vetoed.

12. Because if you had 100 Democratic Senators it would be hard to get 60 votes to end debate!
