"government of the people, by the people, for the people" is a joke at this point! |

Most polls show that over 60% want a public option.
The country overwhelmingly elected, and WE at the DU worked our asses off, so the democrats could change this country for the better! Health Insurance for all is one of these changes!
But the Insurance Companies (and other companies) are now controlling the US Government. INCLUDING some of the Democrats!!
When I was a young dumb college kid I honestly thought that the "Best and Brightest" were elected and ran this country. Wow, was I stupid!
When I see these people talk about morals and saving lives by banning abortion, or voting to save a brain dead Terry Schivo, and then see the same people allow thousands of Americans die every year because of lack of health care, I realize the only qualifications to be elected is an ability to raise money and an ability to promise huge corporations that you will help them every way you can if they can get you elected.
60% of the House/Senate do not care about the average American or the Americans who have had bad breaks or bad luck. They care about the corporations who can get them reelected!
And they know the average American is much more worried about 'American Idol' or 'Dancing With The Stars' than they are about picking up a newspaper or researching the real health care issues. Americans are really too stupid and/or apathetic to spend 30 minutes a week really looking into issues that effect this country!
With people like Bachman, Grassley, Baucus, Etc does anyone really think the 'Best and Brightest' are running this country? These idiots could not maintain a normal job if they didn't have lobbyist's get them elected.
The other 40% are the ones who really care about the average American and doing right for the country and not just lining their pockets. And I am proud of them.
I am so disappointed that the Senate/House is so influenced by money and that the average American is so apathetic to really give a damn.
I am not sure how to fix this because if anything would have fixed I thought the results of the 2006/2008 elections would have.
Wow, is it hard not to get really disappointed in this whole process. I wish I knew how to fix it!
