I abhor the taste of hats , I really do
But god help me , If that ridiculously laughable idea of fining and even jailing those who cannot afford to get health insurance passes and becomes law.... I WILL WILLINGLY EAT MY HAT.

This will never happen, I mean , there is a limit ? c'mon guys , there must me , right ?

This can never fly . This sounds like Marie Antoinette when she said : " Let them eat cake"

I saw a link on that yesterday,
can't remember which one, had the letter to Senator Ensign stating that. What a crock. Wouldn't think they could put that many people in jail because a lot of people can't afford insurance unless there is a public option. Very Marie Antoinette.

2. I wonder if the people who have been cheerleading this reform...
as well as denigrating single-payer advocates, will one day realized they've been cheerleading mandated private insurance and the redistribution of tax-payers dollars to private insurance companies?

But at the end of the day, its hard to imagine a symbolic and firewalled public option wont be thrown in as a grand victory to placate the faithful (gullible) masses.

4. i don't think anyone is against the notion of single payer.it's just that there is ZERO possibility
Edited on Wed Sep-30-09 12:18 PM by dionysus
of it happening. if, with 60 dems, we can't even ammend a bill to just add a public option, how on earth do you think a single payer bill would ever pass? you think baucus and those clowns would vote single payer?

3. I'm sorry, but felt poisoning isn't covered by the public plan.
Perhaps you should apply to a private plan for that condition.

5. Realistically speaking, and yeah, I know that terminology doesn't always apply to Congress

if they don't provide a public option, I find it very difficult to see how they will be able to include a mandate.

Waivers, they say. So fine, how is that really different from right now? If you can afford insurance, you are insured, and if you can't, then you don't have it.

All they will be doing is getting young 'uns right now, who might have the money, but are opting not to pay the steep premiums because they are counting on staying healthy.

No public option and I'm afraid, they'll be able to do little else. Forcing families and individuals right now, who are in bad financial shape, to fork over more dollars to FOR PROFIT corporations will not go over well -- on the left or the right.
