Support for a public option has climb from 37 to 52 Senators |
|
and some people are acting like the media in pronouncing it dead or dying.
Health care reform is still on track to pass before the end of the year, and the HELP bill is still the dominant legislation in the Senate.

1. why does it have to be so complicated? |
|

15. Yes! Medicare for all! |
|
According to my annual SSI report, I've pumped enough cash into Medicare in the past 10 years to cover every medical bill I've had so far. And for most of that time, I was paying for my own health insurance on top of that!
I'd gladly pay my standard (Medicare contribution + health insurance fees) to have coverage that won't leave me when I change employers, won't deny necessary procedures, and will continue to cover me if I become disabled, unemployed, or retired. And I don't think I'm alone in that respect.

I have a hard time believing that there are 51 senators that want a public option.
I'm for single payer. I'd take a public option. I fear we won't even get that.
Do we really need 60 votes? If so, 51 is much too shy of our goal.

5. There are those here that want it to fail. |
|
They have their own political agenda, and it isn't vaguely a Democratic one.
They want Obama to be a failure in order to justify their hatred of him.

9. Strong Public Option with NO TRIGGER ... or Bust |
|
Why sell out on core principals and let the corporations make even more profit (even Wall Street is salivating) and settle for a bill that is worthless or even damaging. If it does not include a strong public option with NO TRIGGER then it is probably a bill that has nothing much of value in terms of cutting costs. That to me is a bill that should die and not supported. Let's hope things work out and we get there....it frustrates me to see America so backwards and fearful on something that is a non-issue....Medicare for All..DONE...why all the backdealings, hesitancy, and loopholes....let's do something for the people.

6. Breaking News - the Senate Finance Committee did what everyone had been expecting |
|
them to do for months. It is just one step in the long, messy, sausage-making process of legislating. People are freaking out about it and we also knew that would happen. The Conference Committee is key.

10. Exactly...it was no surprise...Geez i can be senator and also do nothing... |
|
We all knew for months what was going to be in their final bill and in the end it took 2 months to reveal exactly that?!?!? The public payed for all those sessions to arrive at the same useless conclusion.

11. Slamming Baucus and Conrad and the no voters is one thing |
|
declaring doom is silly. Look at the scavenger-like posts that have popped up since the vote because they think they smell blood. The President is a failure because one committee, in which a public option had a slim chance of passing, didn't pass one. Run for the friggin hills.

12. The 24 hour cycle dominates and it makes people too high and too low all the time |
|
The moment overrides the wider now (immediate past, present, and immediate future) and the broad view of the future (such as it is since we are generally very shortsighted creatures is colored by the emotions of the day.
This is going better than usual or than what was expected by anyone who might catch a little CSPAN with any regularity. The Baucus bill and MUCH MORE SO (because I didn't expect anything too palatable) the two month delay to get the same piece of crap and ZERO Republican votes for the crappy mark burn me the hell up but when you look at the make up of the committee what else would anyone expect.
I'm very, very, very wary and am prepared to throw the kitchen sink at a final bill anywhere in the neighborhood of the Finance debacle but for now I'm actually optimistic that we'll end up with something that does more good than harm and that advances the ball.

on behind the scenes that the corporatemedia isn't privy to.. as to be astounding.
That wouldn't be savvy at all to let the mediawhores know what you were up to in order to help the country..their main goal is to defeat Americans and promote corporateshills.

Why is this not leading every discussion on Health Care... Look we have jumped from 37 to 52 Senators..\\
WE ARE WINNING THIS DEBATE
But nooooooooooo
Every negative on Obama or Democrats in general gets a glaring headline..
No wonder people are confused.
