what is getting lost in this "Scary Criticism of the President" topic -
This is the link to Caffery's blog on CNN, where he discussed Friedman's column on the right's Obama criticism spinning out of control into a dangerous situation:

http://caffertyfile.blogs.cnn.com/2009/09/30/are-obama-critics-creating-a-hateful-dangerous-environment/

In looking through some of the responses, it is amazing to find the "the left did it to Bush, so it is fine we do it to Obama" type of response - the "2000 started the illegitimacy of the presidency" type responses as well. And this is where the media really falls down on its job.

Bush lost the popular vote (psst....he stole the election - probably in 2004 as well). He failed at everything he did and tried to do. His entire administration was one of lying, deception, corruption and shifting wealth upwards - as well as making ignorance a sport, and removing any sort of premise of responsibility for ones actions. He lied us into a war. He politicized the courts. And on and on...

Obama WON the popular vote in a big way. He operates from a position of honesty, credibility, and an attempt at true biparisanship. He is proposing solutions to our problems, not creating problems.

If the media can't see that the right doesn't have a leg to stand on, then they are truly, truly lost, inept - and entirely complicit in what we are seeing.

This sort of bullshit makes me so, so angry.

1. When they say "the left" they mean bloggers
and use that to justify elected Republicans spouting lies and conspiracy theories.

2. I could not agree with you more!
And of course the media are complicit.

They are owned by the folks who back the Republicans.

Sick fucks, all of them.

4. The media *IS* effectively 'The Right', inasmuch as
they are owned by interests who benefit from Republican administrations and policies.

Don't forget who owns the media outlets (Fox is so obviously an arm of the Right I won't bother with them)

ABC: Disney
NBC/MSNBC/CNBC: GE
CBS: Viacom
CNN: Time Warner
