1. Such a contrast from the * years.
Whereas the photos of Bush with the military always appeared staged and stiff, as if he wasn't really admired by any of the people in the photo, the Cadets actually look excited to see President Obama.

Imagine that.

2. Great pixs! Thanks.
The funniest one is what looks like a meeting with Gramps * in the restroom! Now that was the perfect location. ( I realize that it was probably a dressing room but I can dream can't I!) These photos really show how excited folks get when Obama comes around. Very sweet!

3. I love the faces of the children.
What a wonderful role model Obama is for young people! I still get angry thinking about the school systems that refused to show his speech to students.

A "boot chaser" is a person who will only date Corps of Cadets Seniors (hence the "boot" in "boot chaser").

Freshmen have taps on their shoes so you can hear them coming from a mile away.

Aggie traditions....

33. Only seniors in boots; different classes have different belt colors, IIRC.
The Parsons Cavalry Unit is pretty cool.

After the military academies, Texas A&M University graduates more officers into the miltary than any other university.

TAMU is very traditions oriented. It used to be all Corps of Cadets, the only "fraternity" on campus. The older Aggies kept fraternities and sororities away for many years until the 1980s, I think.

Robert Gates was president of the university until GHWB asked him to agree to be SecDef for W. I hear that Gates wishes he could still be there.

The web seems to say Texas A&M now admits women, but I do not see any there except the woman not in uniform.

42. Lots of women in the Corps of Cadets and ROTC. I've seen them. They also
are members of the Corps of Cadets Band. They get the same uniform privileges with boots, etc. There may not be many in the Marine Corps unit, but I've seen the Corps march out from the Quad, and there are lots of women.

9. I'm surprised to be feeling a bit emotional, in a good way.
After eight years of being uncomfortable/unhappy with the pResident - let's face it, it was like living a nightmare - I am suddenly breathlessly proud of our CIC. There is NO WAY that he was the wrong choice, no way.
