Ron Reagan looked like he wanted to rip out Frank Gaffney's throat on Hardball tonight...
Gaffney's parting shot to Ron, Jr., after the latter ate Gaffney's lunch on the topic of Dick Cheney's impotence in Afghanistan and Iraq, was: "Your father would be ashamed of you..."

Ron's response: "You better watch your mouth."

Tweety quickly cut to the hard break.

If I were Gaffney, I'd grow eyes in the back of my head.

...Gaffney didn't do the Big Dick any favors, and Matthews wasn't taking any bullshit.

2. My response would have been, "I sure hope so. My father fucking sucked."
But then again, he knew the guy personally.

6. I really try to make it a point
to listen to at least the opening rant on Ron's show. He is so articulate, informative and FUNNY. He has a wondderful, sarcastic approach to really sticking it to people. Missed this interview with Gaffney - sounds like a humdinger.

24. And I am psyched that Ron decided to settle down in my town.
It's just another reason for me to love Seattle.

11. bastard
"........After the presidential victory of Ronald Reagan, Gaffney joined the Pentagon, where he served as an aide to then-Assistant Secretary of Defense Richard Perle. Because of his pugnacity, especially toward State Department officials, Gaffney earned the moniker "Perle's Bulldog." After Perle resigned in 1987, Gaffney was nudged out of the Pentagon by Perle's replacement Frank Carlucci. Gaffney subsequently created the Center for Security Policy, which counts among its advisers an impressive list of retired military brass and elite public policy figures.

Like other promoters of the "peace through strength" credo espoused by CSP, Gaffney criticized Reagan for slipping toward the liberal frameworks of détente and arms control during his second term. Frustrated former Pentagon officials, including Perle, gathered for a brainstorming session after Gaffney's ouster. "What we need is the Domino's Pizza of the policy business," said Perle. "If you don't get your policy analysis in 30 minutes, you get your money back." Soon thereafter, with a start-up grant from the Olin Foundation, Gaffney founded the CSP (for more information, see William D. Hartung, About Face: The Role of the Arms Lobby In the Bush Administration's Radical Reversal of Two Decades of U.S. Nuclear Policy; and Ken Silverstein, Private Warriors, p. 244.)"

13. Jeebus Christ on a Fucking Crutch!!!
I hate those goddamned righties that can't shut their mouths for two goddamned seconds to let someone else talk!!!!!

It's no wonder I can't stand watching Tweety. He lets them get away with it time and time again.

But good on Ron! Reagan may not have been the great President that many righties say he was, but he's Ron's father, and that kind of shit Gaffney pulled is not cool.

14. The great thing about Ron is when they try that "I'LL TALK OVER YOU LOUDLY" crap, he gives it right
back to them.

HIs first impulse is to discuss things in a civil manner. But when they pull this crap, he pushes back.

...so that he, in turn, could shove them up Gaffney's wrinkled ass.

12. Doesn't matter what Ron's political views are - Gaffney managed to dis both
the son and the father with that very ugly comment. I hope someone features this tomorrow, because (while I don't condone violence, I think Gaffney deserved to be decked after that ugliness), but I'd prefer he just be called out and marginalized in a non-violent way.

I've never seen Ron Reagan so angry.

That was so wrong on so many levels...

...by a former ballet dancing liberal.

He said what he said because he had nothing else worth saying.

16. Poo-flinging asshole.
I *despise* republicans. I cannot stomach watching political shows anymore. The republickers have no manners and filibuster just about every second of airtime, leaving the opposing spokesperson to shout over the asshole.

I'm glad Chris commented on gaffney's assholery, but I'd be happier of legitimate news channels refused to give airtime to these punk assholes.

:nuke:

the Reagan family was, no matter the family members' divergent political views, you don't take a cheap shot like that at someone's relationship with his Dad.

21. Well, we ARE talking about Dick Cheney's inner circle, after all....
...they are, demonstrably, quite willing to say and capable of doing ANYTHING it takes to destroy their political opposition and push their sick, twisted world view.

26. Gaffney's got guts........
.....when he's not dealing with someone face to face. Kind of like his philosophy of war: "I'll stand way over here and bark while you guys kill each other."

He's a psychotic asshole whose airtime should have been up years ago.

32. I hope Nancy didn't hear that remark.
I didn't care for her or her husband when they were in the WH but she's an old lady now and that remark would be terribly hurtful to her.

Ron looked like he had been slapped. Ihope he has a chance to challenge Gaffny at some point...
