If the administration puts caps on executive pay raises.. there will be a "Brain Drain"
from the banks and other corporate entities.

This is what is in my newspaper today. That we will loose our best corporate minds and they will move away if there are limits on pay compensation.

These are the people whose decision making process got us into such a horrific mess.

Well excuse me, but if these are the best minds in corporate that we have, drain away.

4. "Brain Drain" - "Death Panels"
Conservatives spend a lot of money coming up with short statements to scare the unwashed.

Tie executive compensation to a percent of profits. Big gains big "packages," piss poor gains then drain, drain, drain.

7. Is there a wacky irony here?
If someone needed a "bailout" from a government entity to stay afloat, why would the headshed get a bonus? Conservatives values, so simple and yet so complex.

9. Are they dusting off that old canard again?
It's just another way of scaring the masses. Where are they going to move to? Really! They say the same thing about NHC that doctors will move away. Where? Every developed nation in the world has national health care so where are they going to move to? Frankly I wouldn't care if those leeches go somewhere else, but which country in their right minds will have them. China? Hey let them go there.

LOL What are they going to do move to countries where the gap between worker pay and executive pay isn't as large?

Or maybe they plan to use their skills at taking down economies to other countries so they can mess up their economies too.

Brain drain? We should be so lucky!

When in fact the real minds won't get a second look because they are too honest and would turn several industries on their heads.

I have to believe that the journalists writing this pap are either morons themselves or are just writing as directed by their own overpaid execs and CEOs who are also draining their publicly held coffers.

42. Not to defend these guys, but...
Edited on Sat Oct-24-09 02:28 PM by hughee99
the financial institutions that got us into this mess have many divisions. Most of those were run well (or at least somewhat well) but because of the incredibly awful performance of a small number of these divisions, everything is fucked up. There are far more people affected by this than were actually responsible for the mess where in.

If companies taking TARP money can't pay these people well (specifically, the people who had nothing to do with credit default swaps, writing bad mortgages, etc...) these employees will leave for other non-TARP companies, and it will become even harder to prop-up the companies we're bailing out now.

I'm not saying these people necessarily deserve huge bonuses, but IMHO, this argument does have some merit.
