1. Dean would have voted against it, I think |
|
and look what the media did to kill his chances at the nomination.

2. Probably not because more people wanted Saddam out |
|
Kerry thought the president should have the authority to go after Saddam, but just because he voted for that does not mean he voted to alienate all of the allies and make a mess of the job.

3. Possibly but would be in a better position |
|
if he had voted either No and No or Yes and Yes The Yes, then No thing has been a killer in the superficial state of this campaign's sound bite politics

5. I agree with Kerry that the president deserves the authority |
|
but we have a responsibility to ensure that the president is not a corporate-controlled asshole. And that means electing good people, and voting for good people in the primaries.
The real question here would be what if John McCain had ran against Bush in the Republican primary this election? hmm...

The majority of people weren't opposed to the war during the primaries, and I think the DNC shunned people like Dean for that reason.
No matter, I'm not bitter. I now love Kerry/Edwards and feel they're the best men for the office. I just wish the DNC would grow a backbone now and then.

he would have been the front runner from the very begining.
Dean's (and Clark's for that matter as well) campaigns might not have had the impact...and they may not have taken off as far as they did. Part of the reason their campaigns were effective was because they both took on Bush on the war and claimed they wouldn't have voted for the resolution (although Clark had a bit of a slip his first day with some media guy asking about this).
Long before the formal election started in any way, Kerry was seen as the front runner among many.
What I wonder is would Kerry have been nominated if he had voted FOR the 87 billion. I knew this could lead to some consternation down the road, but at the time Kerry was way down in the polls and the democratic primary voters were very much against the bill.
