The single most important thing to tell 3rd party leaning antiwar voters
Every single voter for whom being against the Iraq war is the most important issue knows perfectly well that the real reason for invading Iraq was to set up permanent military bases there for the purpose of dominating the region. It is important to emphasize that Kerry has explicitly disavowed that goal. His IWR vote is water under the bridge--it is what he intends to do now that is important. Remind them also that reasonable people can disagree on the timing of the withdrawal.

Asked his timetable for pulling troops out of Iraq, Mr. Kerry told a few hundred people in Canonsburg, Pa.: "My goal would be to get them home in my first term. And I believe that can be done." He said he would make it clear that "we do not have long-term designs to maintain bases and troops in Iraq."
