incompetent FOX cameramen !!?!?
I watched the debate on C-SPAN. I'm assuming they were showing the unedited FOX feed.

C-SPAN showed a split screen the entire time. There was never any reason for the cameras to move. The candidates stayed standing behind their podiums Yet, the camera on Kerry kept adjusting itself slightly up and down and in a jerky fashion.

In order that Kerry not appear taller they had adjusted the camera on him so show more of the podium so that both of their heads would be in about the same position. OK, I accept that -- but why make it seem like you're continually trying to shave a couple of inches off Kerry's height?

How hard can it be to just leave the camera's alone for the whole night?

1. They should had two cameras ...
... though Fox News might just wanted to screwed with Kerry.

2. Not on the CSPAN I saw
CSPAN on my tv followed the rules of the debate and only showed the candidate speaking (at least at the begining).
After I saw that abc was occasionally cutting to a split screen I watched it there.

3. Bush is obviously concerned about his...er..."size" problem.
For all his obvious insecurity, I wonder if his "size" problem is isn't just about his height.

4. i watched cspan too
and noticed the same thing. it was frustrating, but after awhile it didn't matter b/c no height altering done by the cameraman could help bush's miserable performance.

5. we saw that - continual tweaking of Kerry's side of the split. My husband
even took a measuring tape to check that they had equal screen - they did.

We also thought the cams somehow made Kerry look narrower - I think they had bush focused closer and Kerry more at a distance to try to equalize their bodies.

One thing they could not tweak: the incredibly short stump on which bush's mike was sitting compared to Kerry's much longer one.

6. I watched it on CBS
and they showed a split screen at times... Often the camera was up so high on Bush that he seemed as tall or a bit taller than Kerry. It was clear he wasn't, though, because you could see Bush's podium while Kerry's shot only went down to the lights.
