What to do about flipflop statements?
Hi all. I was wondering: what do you suggest doing about those who say Kerry flipflops? I have been following Kerry for a while now and have always heard him say the same things, so how do you prove it to someone who is a die-hard Bush fan? Oh and I'm a newbie here and love it! I'm a new voter (first time, but was for Gore last time) and 22 from Tennessee. Majority of my family are republicans but I'm a proud democrat (my mother and grandparents are both voting for Kerry though even though they're republicans, my brother is too voting for Kerry. Not sure about my dad, hopefully tonight Kerry showed he's the better man). :) It's just getting so tiring trying to show people Kerry doesn't flipflop like Bush does and that seems to be a big thing people say why they don't support Kerry. :\ Oh, and Kerry kicked ass tonight! XOXO.

1. Welcome!!!!!!!
Glad to have ya! I think (I hope) Kerry handled that himself tonight. He did a fantastic job of being clear about his positions. The best way is to become intimately familiar with his positions as they've been from the start, and be able to articulate those to another person. Once you've hit that ball out of the park, follow up with bush's massive flip-flops, and voila, you win!

2. Welcome from Canada!
If they're truly aghast about flip-flopping, just google "bush" and "flip flop" and tell your friends what you've found. You'll see that bush is being disingenuous at best when he brings that up.

The most reprehensible example of bush flip-flops, for me, is his many different positions he's taken for invading Iraq. (And he chides Kerry for his "different positions"--I wish Kerry nailed him on that, but it appears it may not have made much difference in the end.)

How many reasons has bush had? Let's see how many I can come up with off the top of my head...

WMDs
The war on terra/al-Qaeda
Getting rid of Saddam
Liberating Iraqis
WMDRPAs (Weapons of Mass Destruction-Related Program Activities)

That's just five, and I know there was a woman recently who cataloged some 40-odd reasons for her university paper, just can't seem to locate a link any longer.

Anyway, that's my lengthy two cents. Good luck!
