Cheney must be laughing tonight |
|
when Kerry said that Sadaam was a threat. It is now clear that Cheney had alot to with pressuring the CIA to come up with the WMD evidence that the WH wanted so that they could convince congress that an invasion of Iraq was necessary. In addition, Bush and Chenrey hyped the bad intelligence so many times before the war and quieted any agency that had doubts that Sadaam was a threat (i.e., DIA, DOE, INR, Air Force, etc...). And so tonight Kerry said many times that Sadaam was a threat. Kerry is not holding Bush and Cheney accountable for their lies leading up to the war and using the CIA to get their war.
Cheney has to be laughing and feeling pretty good tonight.

by Edwards. He thinks he is going to pull his smarmy jokes out. I can't wait to hear Edwards say "sure - it's really funny Mr. VP that our soldiers are dying in a war and people are not able to support their families and get decent health care."
That oughta wipe that smirk from Dick's ugly puss.

7. Clinton said Sadaam was a THREAT...... |
|
Edited on Fri Oct-01-04 12:01 AM by dennis4868
and then he bombed Iraq for 5 straight days and according to the military knocked out all of the weapons factories in Iraq...I did research on this using LEXIS and yes Clinton said he was threat and then bombed Iraq after the inspectors left Iraq.
Most of our intelligence agencies said that Sadaam was no threat at all right before the war and Bush ignored this and made sure congress and the peeople did know know this....BUSH LIED, PEOPLE DIED!

8. At least a 5 point reverse for Bush meaning a 10 point gain for Kerry |
|
Bush got his ass handed to him tonight.
But mostly, it was self inflicted.

He is a madman. But he was contained. Boxed in. And the weapons inspectors were going to find out his wasn't an imminent threat to attack us with WMD. We were going to find that out without having to go to war in Iraq.
That is the whole point. I think Kerry explained this very well tonight.

Sadaam was no threat at all...he was boxed in, and was very limited what he could do....he was the mayor of Baghdad before the war, and most of our intelligence agencies said he was no threat to the USA!

10. Umm, you guys are saying the same thing: |
|
Saddam was a threat, but he was boxed in.
So Kerry gave the president the authority to put the pressure of "war" on him, to hold a gun to his head, to force him to open up and admit he was fully disarmed and put an end to the little act of "tough guy" he was pulling.
Bush jumped the gun and took that authority and rushed to war. And then botched the whole thing by failing to plan.
Seems pretty clear to me.

I am saying that Sadaam was NO threat to the USA at all...
The DOE said no nuclear weapon or even a program. (Bush lied and said he had one)
DIA said no massive stockpiles of WMD in Iraq
The CIA said that Sadaam would never give his WMD to terrorist (Bush lied and said he would)
The CIA said that Sadaam, if he had WMD, would not use it against us unless he was provoked (Bush lied and said he would)
The Air Force said that Sadaam did not have unmanned aerial vehicles that could carry WMD to the USA (Bush lied and said Sdaam had UAVs)
So how in the world was Sadaam a threat to us? This is why Bob Graham voted against the IWR.
Why is Kerry not holding Bush accountable for these lies. Instead he says that Sadaam was a threat! Argggghhhhh

You'll never convince 90 percent (at least) of the American people that Saddam Hussein was not a threat.
I agree that the last time Saddam Hussein threatened anyone was in 1990 and I am not so sure that the royal family of Kuwait didn't deserve every threat he issued.
But the sad fact is that the mind-control power of the mass media in the U.S. is such that people in this country from Desert Shield/Storm on viewed Saddam as the Middle East Hitler. The fact that he outlived that war and didn't "die in his bunker" like all good Hitlers are supposed to created cognitive dissonance and it left an emotional hot button for demagogues of either party to push from that point on.
Demagogues lied. People died. At least when it was the Democrat lying, he would only drop cruise missiles on empty buildings at 2 in the morning. Now we have open-ended unwinnable guerrilla warfare.
I don't blame Clinton for caving to the political pressure to "do something" about Saddam, but we all see in retrospect that nothing needed to be done but leave those people the hell alone and let them deal with Saddam in their own way and on their own terms.

You can't say he wasn't a threat.
Another example. Charles Manson is behind bars. Is he a threat? Yes. As long as his heart beats, he is a threat. If not, we would open his jail cell and let him free.
Is he contained? Yes. So we are safe with Charles Manson, who is a dangerous threat, behind bars.
DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE OF SAYING SADDAM HUSSEIN WAS NOT A THREAT. ROVE WILL HANG YOU IF YOU DO.
Capice?

19. He was a threat, but not necessarily a military one. |
|
I think most people have lost the perspective they had before WMD became the new catchphrase. Saddam was cleaning up his act. He was ready to start trading openly with the rest of the world.
If you think about it, he seemed very willing to let the inspectors. "C'mon, I've got nothing to hide." When those UN sanctions would have been lifted, and Iraqi oil traded in Euros, you better believe that American oil companies would have been shitting themselves.
That was a major rationale for the war--a backroom, neocon justification for sure. All they had to do was sell the American people the WMD business (c/o Wolfowitz), and they were successful.
Be pragmatic, though. Kerry couldn't go on television tonight and tell an entire country they were misled. I have a feeling Americans don't like being told they're stupid. It will take time for this to come out. If it's any consolation, the many bush flip-flops on the war will make a good sequence for a history channel special in a few years.

I'm sure he's laughing so hard his defibrillator short circuited when they had to revive him multiple times.
If you have 50 cents, I suggest you find a clue sale and buy yourself one. Even one you could buy for 50 cents would be better than the one you're using.

17. Now visualize Dick Cheney's ugly face for a minute. |

Now think about The Puppet's performance tonight. It sucked. Everybody knows it. It must be hard even for the die-hard BeelzeBush supporters to feel good about the debate.
Certainly not Dick...imagine if you were on George's team. Wouldn't you be disgusted? I would.

disgusted if I was on Bush's team based on Bish's performance tonight....but all I am saying is that I am sure Cheney thought months ago that his actions that led to the scary NIE and his and Mr. Bush's hyping of the intelligence estimates before the war was going to be an issue they were going to have to defend....it is indefensible but Kerry is not holding them accountable so I am sure Cheney is saying "that was a close one."
Kerry did great tonight and I am so proud to eb a dem tonight....I just wish to god that Bush would be held accountable for his LIES/EXXAGERATIONS/PRESSURING THE CIA before the war!
