I'm pretty sure the volume of instant polling was much smaller in 2000..And SUBSTANTIVELY, Bush could get away with his aw shucks crap in 2000. He wasn't the incumbent. He was absolutely horrible tonight. Much much worse, just in his speaking, than 2000. And it all looks so much worse because he's the President, and finally exposed to a huge audience in all his idiocy.

4. I watched the 2000 debates in a classroom. |

Grad class on political campaigning and spin. As a Gore supporter, I saw Gore as winning, but I also saw his weak points. The boosh supporters in the class -- who turned vicious after Nov. 7 -- saw their candidate as winning each debate but also saw where he had been weak and where Gore had shown strength.
I don't believe the same can be said tonight. I think the margin is much different this time. maybe the media can spin it, maybe the corporate whores will spew the party line, but from what snippets I saw, there was little question in my mind that boosh looked like a total idiot.
Disclaimer is in order, however. I did not see the entire debate. Therefore, I would not in good conscience go on a message board or call a talk show and say that in my opinion, Kerry won going away. I suspect there are booshies who will lie through their teeth and say they think their little emperor won regardless whether they believe it or not.
Once again, the polls matter little. There are two more debates scheduled. Let's see how the candidates do in those. And then remember that the only "win" that counts is on November 2.
