Who noticed when they first shook hands, Kerry pulled bush toward him
and spoke to him, thus keeping bush near him a few seconds longer?

He TOTALLY did that on purpose, so people could see the height difference.

You could tell bush wanted to chew his own arm off to back away from Kerry.

I loved it. I knew from THAT moment bush was going to get spanked!

3. Oh, it is more than that
When a man does that to another man, it means, "I accept you, and I am in control of this meeting between us."

How ya doin' tonight, bud? I'm still bouncing around the room. Our man kicked the Shrub's ass tonight ... spanked that bad boy in public.

5. Oh I can't sleep
Damn I just noticed it is after 1!!!!! I am too fired up.

Plus my kid is sprawled out on my bed, asleep. Looks like she might have tonsillitis and I need to take her to the dr first thing. But even she managed a weak high five with me earlier over the debate!!!

How are you?

On a personal basis
complicated. However, my inner political junkie is a happy man tonight!!!

My hopes were deflating. Now, they rise again. Victory is not certain, but neither is defeat. There is still a chance to retrieve this country from the darkness that threatens to engulf it.

10. Tonsilitis bites
Ice cream and hugs are a pretty good treatment. (Had lots of problems with that before puberty ... ice cream and cuddling got me thru.)

13. Hope your kid gets to feeling better
Give her our love & prayers.

(but not "love" like Bush meant "love"- I'm not even sure what he meant!)

7. The photo being run is arm extended

I noticed. In spite of that the point where Bush had arm extended and was leaning back as far as he could to avoid the comparison is the photo that I'm seeing circulating in the media.

8. I anticipated that and had a great feeling immediately
Absolutely perfect by Kerry. He pulled Bush close but not too close and held the handshake for just long enough without overdoing it. Plus he looked to the audience instead of staring at Bush's eyes in a show of needless respect.

9. It was a really good opening!
It showed Kerry was in charge, & to undecideds & unexperienced viewers it looked like Kerry was being very friendly.

12. Yup, Bush Pulled Away Viciously and Was DEFINITELY Rattled...
Edited on Fri Oct-01-04 01:26 AM by Beetwasher
I totally caught that...

It's a very dominant signal...Kerry held him longer and Bush blinked...It's fucking deep and tribal and ancient in it's symbolic weight...

15. Kerry OWNED Bush In That Moment
Edited on Fri Oct-01-04 01:35 AM by Beetwasher
It was done from that moment. The rest was merely icing...

Bush met a man and he knew it at that moment.

18. I read once that humans can tell in seconds who's dominant
When it comes to figuring out the pecking order, we're even quicker than chickens.

And at that moment, Kerry and Bush and 40 million people all knew what was what and who was the alpha male.

Got a new leader of the pack, kiddies.

17. Gosh, imagine that
What's better than that is that Kerry's microphone stand was MUUUUCH longer than Junior's...

Funny how when you try to "equalize" things, you only accentuate the difference. With every cut from Bush to Kerry or from Kerry to Bush, the OBVIOUS difference in manly microphone length was obvious.

What are the comparative shoe and glove sizes?

How silly.

23. Dont want to pat my own back, but I predicted this to my wife
I said I thought Kerry should grab Bush and pull him into a handshake. It would make Bush look shorter, and make Kerry look a
little macho.

But, I also predicted that Kerry would pat Bush on the head.

I guess I can't get 'em all.
