Dammit, Kerry didn't talk about BCCI
I guess I have to vote for Bush*.

Ok, just kidding. I still think he should have mentioned it. But he did so well otherwise that I feel justified in recinding my prior statement.

Still, I'd like to see some ads about BCCI.

That would win over more voters yet.

5. Bank of Commerce and Credit International
Kerry prosecuted that case before he was in the Senate.

It was a major robber-baron takedown.

7. BCCI
BCCI was a highly respected international bank in the mid-80s, based somewhere not in the U.S. After helping start the Iran-Contra investigations, John Kerry began to see some links with this bank, investigated, and ultimately with the help of New York (or Federal for New York) prosecutor Robert Morganthau, was able to expose and shut down BCCI, which was up to its eyeballs in money-laundering (for terrorists and drug cartels, among others) and other crookedness.

Interestingly enough, a small energy company called Harken Energy (sound familiar?) seems to have had some dealings with them, although I don't think anyone's ever proved that their BCCI dealings were shady. (Any information either way would be much appreciated.)

William Pitt has a great article which was on truthout.org recently which chronicles this and other relevant and often-ignored aspects of Kerry's career, such as his taking down the number two New England mob boss while a county assistant DA. It can be found at:
