Mindless Drivel from Republicans Abroad
I was watching CNN-Asia, they had the representative from Republicans Abroad (In this case Republicans-Europe). He said the debate was a wash, and that debates don't affect how people vote and on-and-on. Then he went on about how the "artificial format" of the debate benefited Kerry.
I found this interesting and repulsive for a few reasons:
1)The pukes said four years ago when scrubbie won the first debate that debates were very important and that Gore was in deep trouble;

2)Every pundit and puke around the world hailed this debate as favoring scrub, because in an open debate Kerry would lead the discussion, but in this closed format, scrub would find it easy to stay on message.

3)scrubbie looked calm and commanding, so it offset Kerry's charm and charisma.

I thought it was the water in America that made pukes, now I know that it's just serious delusional behavior and psychotic episodes that causes one to become a puke.

1. It's the Kool-Aid talking
Repuke spokespeople have no personal ethics, so they can say whatever they want regardless of the obvious facts. Shrubbie stunk up the place. He actually appeared stupid and clueless.

2. The format did favor Kerry -- only because it kept him on point.
Limited responses. So, only in a technical sense. In a human sense, Bush was given every advantage possible. The camera angles were worked to make the two look like the same stature, I even thought sometimes, Bush looked bigger and taller because they had to do a close-up to get him at the same level with Kerry in his half of the window. Also Lehrer gave Bush an opportunity to respond in a human, spontaneous way when Bush said that he is a calm guy.

4. But that's not the issue...
They claimed before the debate that the format benefitted them. Then when they lost, they said the format didn't benefit them (pukes).

5. I see. Maybe they should fire Jim Baker because his 30 page
contract didn't produce the results they wanted?

7. If I offended I apologise
My only intention was to point out how quickly they spun the debate from...scrub will win easily because this format favors him, to...It was an artificial format and favored Kerry.
No disrespect intended.

8. Oh, dear no. I'm with you on this one.
I was laughing at the other side. Here they go trying to control the event, bringing on their big dog Baker, and when it doesn't go in their favor, they claim that the artificial format favored Kerry. Well they created the format! What do they have to bitch about!

6. Kerry is very comfortable in that type of contest format
He was so confident, he's got game. :)

And it seems to me the timed answer issue has been overplayed. 2 minutes with 90 second responses is plenty of time to make broad points to sort out major policy differences and enough back and forth for the public to judge the demeanor and debating skills.

3. American Democrats In NZ Weigh-In On Debate
American Democrats in New Zealand Weigh-in on Bush-Kerry Debate

CHRISTCHURCH, 1 October 2004—Today’s debate between rival U.S. presidential candidates John Kerry and George W. Bush focussed on foreign policy, with President Bush’s decision to wage war in Iraq taking centre stage. John Kerry admitted he made a mistake voting with a Congressional majority authorising the war, but claimed the president’s decision to wage the war and his misleading justifications for it were bigger mistakes. Kerry pledged to correct both if he is elected in November.

American Democrats watching the debate live in New Zealand say they found Kerry confident, poised and respectful. “George W. Bush wanted this debate about foreign policy because it’s his strong suit. But John Kerry displayed the confidence and competence expected of America’s commander-in-chief,” said Mark Chubb, chair of the Democrats Abroad country committee in New Zealand.
