They're spinning it as a draw
Kerry whupped the petulant bastard's ass, and they call it a draw.

The media filter will not allow Bush to lose.

The rightwing media is sickening me this morning. Some quotes "Flash polls show Kerry won the debate, but people still see Bush as strong and resolute."

1. They wish!
Let them spin. We can keep laughing at them. Laughter is a great tool in such a circumstance.

2. everyone knows what they saw
conservatives, liberals, independents, undecideds

no sane person could tell themselves that was a close debate

even those doing the spinning know the truth

and Kerry gets to do this to Bush two more times

3. No way was it a draw
Edited on Fri Oct-01-04 06:35 AM by MUSTANG_2004
Kerry cleaned up.

I'm a moderate who didn't like Kerry much at all (Why'd they pick a liberal from Massachusetts again? Were there no lessons learned after losing with Dukakis and winning with Clinton?) but Kerry was EXTREMELY impressive in the debate. If he does as well in the next debates, he will have erased my qualms and no doubt many others' who want ABB but don't like Kerry.

9. I've come to a conclusion, the media filter is putting lipstick on a pig
but when it's said and done, they'll never hide the fact that they are, indeed, propping up a pig as a beauty queen.

27. No sane person who SAW it could call it a draw
but most people didn't watch. The viewership was high, but all those who didn't watch will only hear what the media tells them. The media can be easily swayed by the press of what they perceive as popular opinion. That's why those letters to the editor are so critical right now. It made the difference (the wrong way!) in 2000. We cannot let that happen again.

Get those letters and calls out there, folks! Do NOT let the Rovian Bushbots convince those who didn't hear Idiot-boy for themselves that the dimwit somehow comported himself well. Make sure those who didn't hear the debate hear our side, often, loudly, and passionately.

4. They need to frame it as a draw to keep interest high
They're interested in ratings. They saw the same thing we did, they know bush lost, but if they say that, everyone tunes out. We keep our message positive, consistent, exuding an air of INEVITABILITY (steal that away from Rove), and we win.

The media calling it a 'draw' is fine provided we keep talking about it as a win.

Stay positive. Don't give the media the power.

5. We need to use this as a clear indication that the media is NOT
liberal, it's corporate owned.

Someone needs to collect all the results of the polls where the public has indicated that Kerry is the clear winner and then quote what the pundits said to show the disconnect.

8. After the debate
Karl Rove said that they were going to gore Kerry. He said that in a few days, people would be saying that Bush won the debate. Looks like he's halfway there already.

If you notice, the media coverage immediately after the debate (first hour or so) was glowing for Kerry. Overnight, the spin has convinced half of America that it was a draw. The same thing happened to Gore. The first day or so, everyone was saying Gore won. A week later the spin was Bush was the winner.

11. Wolf Blitzer actually spinning it as a Bush win
His point was that it was a draw and, in a draw, the victory goes to the sitting President. Therefore he implies that Bush won.

here is our spin: a national security debate draw is a win for Kerry. Since this is Bush's only ace in the hole.

Ace hole?

23. Excellent point!
All along we've heard the national security/war on terror is Bush's strength against Kerry. If that's true, how can it be a "draw" with Bush winning? Even a draw means Kerry went up and Bush went down.

It's almost like the media gives Bush a built-in handicap boosting him with every spin!

13. Doesn't matter.. the damage has been done to Bush..
The people KNOW what they saw, they're talking about it at the water coolers. The lame ass excuse/talking point that Bush was tired from visiting hurricane victims WON'T fly with the average American who: Wakes up at 6:00am, gets breakfast for the family, gets the kids ready for school, gets the little ones to day care, rushes off to their jobs, works through lunch for fear of losing their job, works til 5:30, picks up kids, runs to the store, fixes dinner for the family, helps kids with homework, attends a school meeting about how to find funding for school activities, goes home does laundry, and falls into bed at 11:00pm. The REAL people know that being flown down to visit with hurricane victims for an hour, then off to nap before the debate is NOT FUCKING TIRING!!!

Bush was not tired, as the right wing is claiming. He did not suffer from bad camera work (he made those awful faces all on his own), he sucked.. he was fucking clueless.

And even more incriminating is that Joe Scarborough and the National Review Online said so as well!

Flood them with letters and then refuse to watch their shows.
Write advertisers to those shows and tell them you are no longer watching their shows and that you will boycot their products.

28. I completely disagree
I flipped back and forth between ABC, CBS and NBC as well as MSNBC and CNN last night and the reviews for Kerry were pretty strong. Indeed today's polling data at pollingreport.com seems to back that up.

Were you watching Fox?
