Behind the crack-up

Last night, Bush was so way off even what passes for his game that methinks he knows there's bad news afoot. It's either his health, the impending cascade of indictments, or both.

1. he was undermedicated
he needed to be relaxed, but if they gave him his calming, downer meds, then he would have really crashed because the debates were past his bedtime.

so instead, he was a bit wired and sleep-punchy.

a collosal error in judgement on the part of his debate negotiators.

32 pages of rules, and they forgot to schudule it during shrub's normal waking hours.

3. He was already falling across the podium, if he would have been
relaxed he might have knocked it over.

9. I thought he was over medicated
then there are the long term consequences of alcohol and cocaine abuse. It is like taking an ice cream scoop to your brain, again, and again, and again. Actually * should be a poster boy for the "This is your brain on drugs" ad campaign,

Bush is the 7 second sound byte, tough cowboy talk president. If you take him out of that environment, he fails miserably, or is that miserable failure?

2. Nah...Just Over His Head
This boy only is fed spin points and sound bites...they work great on the stump and on the tube, but when then the manchild is left to speak for more than 20 seconds unscripted, the results are what you saw last night.

He's done a bunch of goofy news conferences lately...including the one with Lauer where he admitted the war on terror can't be won...and appears clueless when he has to go on his own. But then he's never been able to string three sentences together if his life depended on it.

What America finally saw was the Bunnypants we knew was there all along. All Kerry did was show he was more prepared and let Bunnypants hang himself...which he did nicely. This was a kid who was obviously uniformed, inarticulate and scrited.

7. Agree.
The scary thing is that his handlers and the media have been covering for this incompetent. It is a crying shame.

8. The Bubble Boy
Let's face it, he hasn't had to face an audience that is anything less that adoring for the past two years -- and that includes press conferences. It would have been bad enough the he had to endure some pointed questions (tip 'o the hat to Jim Lehrer, BTW) but had also had to confront somebody who relentlessly took him to task for his decisions.

Remember the last couple of fights of Muhammad Ali -- the ones where he was noticeably out of shape? It was something like that -- except that Bush in his prime was never anything even close to an Ali. After about the first 20 minutes, Bush just clung to the ropes and waited for the bell.

6. Did you notice that he rarely
used his full time. He said what was scripted and went to fast so there was a little time left over. Did it a few times. Cannot speak on his feet.

10. the grand prix lights backfired
Instead of making Kerry look long-winded, their horse freaked and stalled in the gates.
