AARRGH! My sister is deciding who to vote for based on debates |
|
so I called her this morning and asked what she thought. She said neither one impressed her. (I can't believe she has the same blood in her that I do)and she does not know what I see in Kerry. She then went on to talk about him voting against the $87 funding for the troops (I know, I know). I just lost it and starting yelling (now I feel guilty) I told her about bush threatening to veto if it did not go through the way he wanted and Kerry trying to get one passed that was actually paid for, yada yada yada... I pointed out that bush actually held the check book.
After I finished my tirade, she said "that is the first time I have ever heard that"
Where can I get information about the truth behind this vote and how bush was going to veto it?
Thanks!

1. I just posted a thread about... |
|
...how Kerry had the chance to clear that up last night and passed on it. A couple people responded that it wouldn't do any good for him to spend time trying to explain because most people are too stupid. I disagreed. I think it's people like your sister who've never heard the explanation before that would potentially benefit. I hope she comes around.

2. Bush bring up the $87 billion routine againt backfired. |
|
Your average American hears this for the 200th time and finally realizes that this is all they have to run on, which is pathetic.
For Bush negatives, you have the economy, the war, civil liberties...You can go on. Bringing up the $87 billion sends a message that they simply have very little on Kerry and if they want to tag him a flip flopper, they are going to have to come up with something else and not the same tag line over and over...

6. I have a relative like that . . . |
|
It's a cry for help.
Seriously, tell her "Bush opposed the creation of the Dept. of Homeland Security" until he determined it was politically expedient and he managed to get union protection for converted federal workers off the table. He was against it, and now he's for it. Lather, rinse, repeat as often as possible.

7. In the end, the Dem Party and Kerry must get out the message about the |
|
$87 Billion. Our explaining it doesn't reach enough people. Kerry and other groups are running many ads here in Texas. So Bush & Rove's version of it is what people think here. It's as simple as that.

8. I'm so aggravated with the American press... |
|
John Kerry made a statement on the Senate floor about his vote on that bill. It's right there for public record. All any reporter worth his salt has to do is go look it up for a better explanation. Although, I also hope that the DNC has managed to photocopy the fricking transcript and hand it out.
This is not some great unexplained mystery.

9. I wish the DNC would run an ad also |

There has to be clips of WH officials making the statement of his threat to veto. 30 seconds...that's all that's needed.

11. Kerry should have mentioned it during the debate |
|
Bush gave him the perfect setup. It would have been a slam dunk for Kerry. He could have finally put the $87 billion issue to rest, and put Bush on the defensive. That was the biggest mistake that Kerry made in the debate. Kerry should have let everyone watching the debate know that Bush threatened to veto the initial appropriations bill, and that the Republicans voted against it.

12. you're right. kerry needs to mention bush's veto threat |
|
That was a big kerry mistake and its one he's made several times. It would end the flip flip crap right away. :(
i've emailed the campaign, but no dice. we should keep doing it...
