One serious concern from debate last night |
|
Kerry was awesome. Any one who doubted this man's leadership and savvy got their crow handed to them last night. I did have one concern over something Kerry said (since I'm convinced now he WILL be our next President). Anyone else catch him saying something about the importance of protecting Israel? Or something about staying to finish the mess in Iraq because it will keep Israel safer? What's that all about? What about the keeping the Palestinians safe? I'm gonna check the transcripts this afternoon when I get a chance.

They're in Florida.
It didn't surprise me in the least.

Kerry wants to bring the world to the table and work for peace. That includes everyone.

3. Yeah, I didn't like that either |

But I'm resigned to the fact that for some ungodly reason, Israel's safety is important to us, despite the fact that they piss on us every chance they get.

Actually, in the interest of statesmanship, right or wrong, if the U.S. withdrew its support for Israel rather than trying to influence their policies, Israel would be destroyed. It is an improbable "island" state in the middle of the muslim world, and deeply hated.
I don't like Israel's policies or government at all, but our total withdrawal of support would almost instantly cause an all out middle east war and a humanitarian crisis, not to mention a "cold" civil war here as it divided us at home.

7. Great point! Statesmanship! |

JK will be an honest broker, and he won't enable leaders like Sharon to continue disastrous ME initiatives.
Disclaimer: I'm a strong supporter of Israel, but I absolutely hate Sharon and what he's done!

9. Want the theocons to set Middle East policy? |
|
Any position Kerry has on Israel is going to be better than that of the * administration. Remember, they are in the clutches of people who know what they know about the Middle East from reading the Bible. Most of them believe that Israel must triumph and rebuild the Temple. They think Armageddon is a good thing and are looking forward to it.
