The unspoken message I was picking up from Bush's remarks was
"I'm President dammit! I don't have to explain myself to anyone! And I sure as hell don't have to apologize for anything!"

It's almost as if he's confused being President with the divine right of kings or something.

Did anyone else sense this?

1. You have hit it right on the head!
But, you know, he's Preznit because "God wanted it." Divine Right, indeed.

7. You Give Bush Too Much Credit
And Nixon not enough.

Nixon was evil and crooked, but junior is just evil and stoopid. :dunce:

8. Nixonian in the sense that
He feels accountable to no one for his actions as President.

In the brains department, Tricky Dick makes Dubya look like a babbling idiot.

2. He got so ticked off that anyone would dare criticize him
to his face. He is always surrounded by yes men and women that he can't take it when someone doesn't bow to him and agree that he is right on everything.

4. Yes, he was stunned
that someone DARED to question him.

I think from the beginning it was obvious that the cocoon his advisers in has become a major problem. He just had no idea anyone didn't think he was the second coming.

What DID surprise me, though, was when I saw those same advisers after the debate believing their own spin.

Not only doesn't Shrub get it, neither does Rove, Card, and all the rest.

He's the president and He don't answer to no one. FU George.

9. I'm nearly finished with Kitty Kelley's book and you are exactly right.
The entire Bush clan feels entitled. They receive favors from power-hungry people around them who expect favors in return and then turn around and act as though they earned it all themselves. It's really quite disgusting.

11. Their sense of entitlement
Is what led to their party's visceral hatred of Bill Clinton.

They couldn't stand the fact that their blue-blooded, patrician candidate got his ass kicked by some nobody from Arkansas.
