Have I gone nuts? I've got to ask... did you hear "let me finish"? |
|
When Bush* was in the middle of a comment (about Iraq I think) and he said "let me finish" to no one in particular and then continued talking?
I've been waiting for someone to bring it up... did I dream it? LOL!

The media whores are already using it and pretending junior was shutting up Kerry. It makes junior look more like the manly man's man that he wishes he was. :eyes:

34. Right - he was going to use this as an excuse for a dismal performance |
|
His handlers probably figured they could claim that the moderator didn't let him finish.
But the moderator trumped him - gave him a chance to say more whenever he asked for it. And he didn't have a damned thing to say.
Funny!

35. Yes. He'd spent so much time all night asking for time, and then |
|
hemming and hawing and having nothing to say. I think Leher honestly thought he was through. He'd given the same little soundbite we've all heard before anyway -- nothing new.

I figured he was just responding to some off-camera cue that he was out of time or something. That would be weird if it just popped out for no reason.

I don't know if he was trying to make viewers think Kerry was trying to distract him, but the split-screen on C-Span showed otherwise.

I know bush blurbed out 'rum' instead of 'run' about 10 or 15 minutes before the end of the debate. Sorry, don't recall what he was talking about (heh, never do) but I got a good larf from it and you may as well :)

But he did indeed say that. I was perplexed as well. First he paused with his mouth open like a fish out of water for a few moments, then he blurted, "let me finish!" though no one had begun talking and he had plenty of time left.
I was waiting for him to start swatting at invisible bats or something!

20. From the transcript at cnn.com... |
|
During Bush's reply to Kerry's answer of the question "When has Bush misled the public?"
Bush - I think what is misleading is to say you can lead and succeed in Iraq if you keep changing your positions on this war. And he has.
As the politics change, his positions change. And that's not how a commander in chief acts.
Let me finish.
The intelligence I looked at was the same intelligence my opponent looked at, the very same intelligence.
You heard it right :)

He gave is answer (below) and came to what should have been his conclusion. However, he didn't have a warning light on his podium yet. He knew he had completed his answer and stopped as if he was finished. But then he realized he should use as much time as given to him (Karen Hughes, "Rule #43, always use all of your time.") So, he jumped back in with "Let me finish," even though no one had tried to stop him. Lame.
----- BUSH: My opponent just said something amazing. He said Osama bin Laden uses the invasion of Iraq as an excuse to spread hatred for America. Osama bin Laden isn't going to determine how we defend ourselves.
BUSH: Osama bin Laden doesn't get to decide. The American people decide.
I decided the right action was in Iraq. My opponent calls it a mistake. It wasn't a mistake.
He said I misled on Iraq. I don't think he was misleading when he called Iraq a grave threat in the fall of 2002.
I don't think he was misleading when he said that it was right to disarm Iraq in the spring of 2003.
I don't think he misled you when he said that, you know, anyone who doubted whether the world was better off without Saddam Hussein in power didn't have the judgment to be president. I don't think he was misleading.
I think what is misleading is to say you can lead and succeed in Iraq if you keep changing your positions on this war. And he has. As the politics change, his positions change. And that's not how a commander in chief acts.
Let me finish.
The intelligence I looked at was the same intelligence my opponent looked at, the very same intelligence. And when I stood up there and spoke to the Congress, I was speaking off the same intelligence he looked at to make his decisions to support the authorization of force.

I think by that point he was no longer debating Kerry, but himself! Funny, he said Kerry could debate himself, yet the Shrub did exactly this. Those voices in his head just became too loud!

Kerry played it as, "Well, these our your rules and I'm FINE by them, and I'll STILL kick your ass." I do remember at one point Bush tried to jump in and say something, and asked Kerry if that was alright, and Kerry basically said something to the effect of, "Sure, that's fine by me, we don't need these rules anyhow" with a smile on his face (I couldn't hear him, as Bush just kept talking over him, but it was something very clever to that effect). He'll debate Bush with ANY rules, ANY time, ANY place and calmly kick his ass.

Or maybe it was Jesus whispering into his ear again. Apparently, the Good Lord spends a lot of his time talking with George W. Bush. I mean, damn, wasn't his death harrowing enough?

Anytime he opened his mouth it was a disaster. She probably kept slashing her index finger across her throat to get * to stop. He kept glancing at her in the audience (or maybe glancing at Rove). I couldn't help thinking she would respond each time with a gesture indicating he should keep his cool. Didn't work.
