Just spent four hours at Dem HQ in NC. YEEHAWWWWWW!!!!!!! |
|
It was GREAT folks. We had Republicans and moderate Dems coming out of the woodwork for yard signs.
A lady came by with thousands of Christians for Kerry and People of Faith for Kerry bumperstickers and buttons. They started going out the door immediately as soon as she opened the boxes. A preacher came by for yard signs.
Before I left we had put together hundreds more signs. The union guys were coming in by the droves.
We're TAKING this state, folks.

11. Anyone taking Bowles signs? |
|
If Kerry can win North Carolina, it's over. Piss on the dogs and call in the fire. Rent that moving van with the "Crawford Texas Here I Come" sign on it.
But almost as important, if Kerry could win in North Carolina, that would give hope that Erskine Bowles could hold on to Edwards's Senate seat. Although Kerry in the White House is important, Kerry in the White House with a Democratic majority in the Senate is even better.

The Bowles campaign is humming along, but the grassroots effort is behind Kerry. Bowles probably wins even without a Kerry victory, but if Kerry wins, there's no way in heck that Burr beats Bowles.

the Bowles folks are QUITE busy. And most of the Dems I come across are quite adamant that the Bowles race is as critical as the Kerry race, here in NC.
In some of my activities, I've even had people say "DON'T FORGET BOWLES!"
I think he's getting the word out; I think his name is getting out there.

The effort they are making there is intimidating for lack of a better word. They are leaning heavily on the Christian pro-lifers and the swift vet believing robot patriots there. If you say NC could turn then great, but states like Pa and WI. are giving me angina.

Any particular comments about the debate that you were told or overheard? Curious about how it went over with Republicans there, especially those who have identified themselves as such while asking for K/E yard signs and stickers! That is too cool.

|
Hey,
Previously I've noticed a strong preponderance of Kerry signs in Stokes and Guilford counties. Yesterday I drove from my home in Warren County down the Roanoke valley and back up towards Hampton Roads, and all over northeast NC there were plenty more Kerry signs than * signs.
Edwards can win it for us in next week's debate!

51. Good grief, BLM--that's incredible! |
|
You did yeoperson's work at HQ there--and isn't it gratifying to see how much all that hard work is paying off?!:D
The enthusiasm was high for Kerry around here--and, like you, I've seen it from people you'd never expect to vote for him. However, I'd have to say that, after last night, the dam has burst on Dub! You don't just talk with people about how Kerry is the "better man for the job", they're starting to say that there was only one guy who looked like a president on the stage last night, and that was the tall guy from Massachusetts!:7
More Kerry and Kerry/Edwards stickers--and now, at last, yard signs!--than ever around here; usually see at least 2 for every one for Dub--and they're still running even in heavily-Repub areas of the county. I was upset at seeing a "Bush" sticker on the back of a Nissan Maxima today--until I looked again and saw it was one of those "Bush/Satan '04" stickers!:D
I really do believe we're going to confound the pollsters and take this state; and I'm more confident than ever about that today. I think Kerry performed a seismic shift several times that of the ones triggering Mt. Saint Helens last night, and becuase of that, today the campaign is a completely new ballgame. Can't see Dub coming back from the cliff he drove off of in Miami--once again, this is John Kerry's election to lose--and he AIN'T gonna lose it!:bounce:
And neither is Erskine--probably by a wider margin than we're expecting!:bounce:
:kick:
