Bush gave the whiny "It's hard work!" excuse 11 times during the debate. What other excuses did DUers notice from the President of Excuses?

1. I noticed Shrub kept using the word 'hope' |
|
As in, 'I hope the elections in Iraq go well' (not a direct quote, but you get the idea).
Always with 'hope we can do this' -- rather than, 'We have the means and the will to do it', as Kerry so forcefully said.

9. Funny, you being from Minnesota ... |

I tried to get into "After Hours" last night and explain to Joe Scarborough how Bush's whining over "hard work," would not go over well in our part of the country. I'm from Iowa.
Garrison Keillor makes fun of it, but also celebrates, the upper midwestern reverance for hard work, and the humility we express in doing our jobs well.
You and I both know if we were in an interview room with our potential replacement, that bragging/whining about how hard our jobs were would be the first thing that would get us replaced. After all, there was somebody in the room willing to do your job, and they weren't whining about "hard work."
I've traveled all over the country, and I've found this notion peculiar to the upper midwest -- the part of the country that leads the nation in individual productivity.
I know the southerners in here will get upset about this, but the fact remains that southerners are, by productivity, lazy workers. But, like Bush, they will brag/whine about how much work they do the first time they put in an honest day's labor.
Up here, that kind of behavior is like fingernails on a chalkboard -- we're taught from a very early age that kind of talk will only buy us trouble.
Thank you for the post.
