How soon will they stop talking about the debate?
Usually, when bad stuff happens, the RNC spinners talk for a couple of days. And then they cover up the poop and act like "Stink? I don't smell anything?" I say they'll stop talking after today. Let's put it this way - I would.

1. The spin about "it was a tie" isn't working
So look for them to try and stomp it down the memory hole by the end of the week.

3. By Sunday, the post-debate talk will be over.
There will be the obligatory mention on the Sunday blather shows, but that will be it.

You might not even see much promotion of the subsequent debates. I mean, you can't have Tweety's head asplode, can you?

5. It doesn't matter. Permanent damage has been done.
The real question is when will Americans stop talking about it. I bet the average republican voter was pretty quiet around the watercooler today. Any anecdotes out there?

11. Yep, permanent damage to the Fight Against Terror President
Gotta love those ratings! Millions and millions of TVs tuned in to watch the man who many Americans have put their faith in to protect our homeland make a sniveling idiot out of himself.

"He said 'Wrong War Wrong Place Wrong Time!'"
"He said 'Wrong War Wrong Place Wrong Time!'"
"He said 'Wrong War Wrong Place Wrong Time!'"
"He said 'Wrong War Wrong Place Wrong Time!'"

I wish I'd had the foresight to have planned a drinking game for the beatdown.

6. it won't pass into history as much as it will go down in history, as one
of the worst embarrassments a sitting president has ever had. I do believe it will have a stunning effect in the minds of everyone who saw it. It won't go away, it will take hold and deepen.

Like the image from F9/11 and his blank stare while reading The Pet Goat. Not all of his followers saw that. But they got to see this--all 90 minutes of it.

Thank you, John Kerry!

7. I'm inclined to think thye'd stop soon, but look at it this way...
...if homeland security and foreign affairs was to be Bush's stronghold in this election, and he got totally handled last night, maybe this "draw" is the best they'll get. Once we get into domestic issues, Kerry will mop up. The Repug talking heads were most likely expecting this debate to be a huge success for Bush, so they could ride the wave through the next two. But that certainly didn't happen. It can only get worse for Bush, and that will be GREAT to watch.
