to all those doom-and-gloomers

ye of little faith.

I must say I was surprised at the number of DUers who were adamanent pre-debate that * was such a master debator, blah-de-blah-it just blew my mind that people could talk about how stupid and inarticulate * is, with no basis for a defense of his record in one thread, then express grave fear about the amazing masterful debating ability of said moron in another. As I've been saying all along, * did not technically win the Gore debates, we all know that, it was the media that spun it into the * awesome personality of idiot boy that endeared the public to him, even though Gore clearly did a much better job and the fact analysis proved it, and the first polls showed Gore ahead (though not as far ahead as Kerry today, so no way can the numbers "tighten up"). Maybe in the past * could speak a little more cleary, but has always had a weaselly debate style, if it wasn't for his down-home appeal and strong tone of his voice that appeals to certain of his demographic, he would not be considered even an adequate debator, much less a "masterful" one.

as for Kerry, sure he seemed a bit stiff sometimes in his speeches, but I saw a strength and sharpness that I knew would be work to his advantage, plus he's had laudable debating experience, so I could not get why some people had such low expectaions for Kerry and high ones for the *??

8. I Thought We Shouldn't Overdo It
or the press would pull a "* dominated the debate just like everybody said he would",
which is most likely the story they wanted to write, but couldn't due to Booooooosh's
spectacularly abysmal performance.

11. Don't get overconfident.
The next round is town-hall style, with pre-approved questions. Bush'll get to turn on his "folksy man of the people" routine, and with scripted answers, so he could potentially make Kerry look "too aloof."

15. of course * could win, but not due to his
"master debator" reputation, rather his folksy way, whicb does not a master debator make. I had low expectations for * but was pleasantly surprised at how unprepared the * was, I knew he'd be lame, inarticulate and lose on the fact analysis, but the level of his lameness (to put it mildy) and nervousness was very revealing. sure he'll try to prepare more for the next debate, but it's not like he hasn't had months, years, to prepare for this one. besides, the issue of "homeland security" is supposed to be the most important to most voters, and the damage from last night has been done. let's hope the feaking media doesn't spin this and future debates all to hell though, that is what I'm more afraid of.
