Fox ADMITS story about "metrosexual" Kerry is FALSE
Edited on Fri Oct-01-04 04:08 PM by Newsjock
Time for that investigation, NOW.
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,134166,00.html

Editor's Note

Earlier Friday, FOXNews.com posted an item purporting to contain quotations from Kerry. The item was based on a reporter’s partial script that had been written in jest and should not have been posted or broadcast. We regret the error, which occurred because of fatigue and bad judgment, not malice.

On edit, more info from Josh Marshall at http://talkingpointsmemo.com
...Late this afternoon I spoke to Fox spokesman Paul Schur who told me the following ...

“Carl made a stupid mistake which he regrets. And he has been reprimanded for his lapse in judgment. It was a poor attempt at humor.”

So the Fox presidential campaign reporter put together this Kerry-bashing parody with phony quotes intending to peg him as girlish fool and somehow it found its way on the Fox website as a news item.

Imagine that.

without being labelled 'satire,' but what Fox News finds funny.

Calling Kerry a woman.

19. Cameron was also prominently featured in "Outfoxed"
He was the reporter caught on camera during the 2000 election sucking up to Shrub before interviewing him, engaging in small talk about how much his wife enjoyed working for the Shrub campaign.

Yes, you heard right. The wife of a reporter covering the presidential candidates actually worked for Bush campaign.

That kind of conflict of interest would've gotten Cameron immediately reassigned by any legitimate news organization.

But we're talking about Fox.

29. My Letter
Your so-called joke about Senator John Kerry is inexcusable and childish. No way this was just a mistake. You need to resign immediately. And then publicly apologize to Senator Kerry, his family, and the American people. Your bias was never hidden, but this is just unprofessional and malicious.

After you resign, take a long vacation and work off that fatigue. You won't be missed.

Here's hoping Dan Rather covers this story, as he is more of a true journalist than you will ever be.

40. Mine:
Your Kerry story was interesting...

You know, the one where you called him effeminate?

Interesting because unlike John Kerry (a war hero), you are a gutless punk, who wouldn't be able to get a journalism job that didn't require constantly fellating the White House.

That's why you boys* are called Faux News.

*boys being a colloquial term indicating lack of manhood, not representing any actual masculinity.

30. My letter to C. Cameron, just sent
Mr. Cameron:

I am disgusted to hear of your fabrication of "remarks" by John Kerry last week. You are neither a journalist nor a good crafter of fiction. I hope your career ends before the coming week is out, and I will be doing my part in contacting all major media outlets to ensure this.

You should be ashamed of yourself. I am sure you are not. Fine with me: let the punishment come from without, if indeed there is nothing within--no conscience, no mind, no soul.

Yours truly
xxx

outlet and the newspapers all over this the way they were over CBS & Dan Rather? This is far, far, far worse than anything CBS did (which by the way, as we all know, was just that they made the mistake of using a bad source)--this man LIED. Flat-out fabricated statements out of the air and posted them for TRUTH.

1st, it was only on the net and for a short while and an apology was already extended for the error. I doubt this is going to a grand jury.

2nd, it is such a stupid irrelevant tidbit and we will only be echoing the metrosexual label by protesting.

3rd, we should use our "silver bullets" sparingly. Lets save rapid response blasting for when we really need it -- for real issue and avoid a "cry wolf" syndrome. Lets not make rapid responses "trite".

Finally, everyone knows Fox is biased. So like who cares?
