Who the hell is Pat Caddell???
And why does this 'Democratic strategist' got such a boner for criticizing and slamming the Kerry campaign?

He's on O'Reilly, so I don't expect a whole lot, but still....Jesus Christ.

And he seems like he really hates Kerry. No wonder every time I click on Faux (not that often, mind you) his nasty mug is there speaking for the Democrats. Faux must think they hit the jackpot with him.

I just wrote down his name so I could rag on him here... You beat me to it. I always thought you guys exaggerated about Fox News' bias, but man were they peeved today. The host from DaySide earlier today was like:

"But Kerry LIED about the SUBWAYS!!!"

I like the official Fox News spin... Kerry won on style... but Bush was the misunderstood genius.

9. Caddell revolutionized political polling in the 70s
Caddell basically revolutionized electoral polling in the 1970s, while still in his early 20s. He was McGovern's pollster, and is one of the people largely credited with getting McG the nom in 1972. His amazingly accurate polling during the primaries helped McG focus on the races he could win-- and not spend as much time on the losers.

He's worked for many others since then: Carter, Gary Hart and even Clinton IIRC. The man has put in his dues as not only a credible political analyst, but as a Democrat, too.

If any "Democratic Strategist" has a right to criticize a presidential campaign, it's Caddell.

Pat is voicing much of the frustration many of us have felt with the Kerry campaign since last summer: the lightweight platform, the ambiguity on Iraq, the lack of definition. Although Kerry's come along nicely since then, there's still a lot of us who are still ABB and not yet completely "pro-Kerry".

Caddell (like me) will vote for Kerry, but he still has major disagreements on strategy and policy with him, and will not hesitate to voice his opinion.

Besides, I thought this party was a "big tent"?

10. Did you see the show?
He wasn't "criticizing" the Kerry campaign.
He was saying that Bush won the debate, and with
such relish & drool that even O'Reilly was disgusted
with his Faux sycophancy.

42. Did I see a different
show?

I saw Pat Caddell say that Kerry did what he had to do and that Bush did NOT do what he had to do. Pat also estimated that Bush's lead would be cut in half in all the major polls. He did criticize both Bush and Kerry for things he thought could have been done differently-and in that part he criticized both of them brutally.

They're both DINOs and Bush lovers. Neither can be accurately described as a Democrat. Caddell is more of a partisan Republican than Tucker Carlson.

29. There's no room in a "big tent" for people who want to burn it down.
Caddell is also singlehandedly responsible for Carter's hideous "malaise" speech, which he pushed and pushed for, even going over Mondale's head, who advised against it because he sensed what it would become.

Caddell hated Clinton. Caddell hated Gore. Caddell hates Kerry. Caddell plays quisling on an anti-Democratic news station. Get yourself a pup tent, and you and Caddell can make perfect liberal music together. If you work at it, you can squeeze Nadir in there too and form a trio.

31. Riiiiight. And who appointed you 'membership chairman'?
Or maybe the circular firing squad is enough?

SFW if Caddell hated Clinton, AND Gore. Both of them were mushball appoligists who talked a good line, but sold the Dems out to the Repubs whenever they got the chance. And despite the Kerry-Worship around here, not every Democrat is that enthusiastic about him, either. We're on board because we know Dubya is the worst president in 70 years.

Sorry, but as a Democratic president, Clinton was a dismal failure. Gore ran such a horseshit campaign that he lost to a certifiable moron who's entire experience was running successful companies (and states) into the ground.

Sorry, but Caddell is hardly the only Democrat who thinks Clinton and Gore sucked.

30. For all the deserved criticism of Chris Matthews
At least we were spared the pompous pairing of Pat Cadell and Peggy Noonan last night.

Cadell rejected any semblance of competence years ago. I have a dozen tapes from election 2000. Cadell actually denied Gore was hurt by those butterfly and multipage ballots in Palm Beach and Duval.

He was frothing whenever the Broward County election commisioners ruled a punch card as a vote for Gore, even if it was a 3-0 vote. One segment busts me up in particular. I keep the tape rewound to the exact point. "Those 500 votes in Broward have no business being there! This is theft, I'm telling you! In all my years in politics, Chris, I have never seen such...I can't even...this is never going to stand up! Does the world understand what's going on here?"

Basically, a DINO - Democrat in Name Only. Talk shows love him because he's a sort-of Democrat who loves to criticize the Democrats. They love the self-hating Democrat and Caddell is certainly one of them. Why anyone thinks he has anything worth saying is beyond me. I doubt very much he's an insider anymore after how he treated Gore in the 2000 post-election debacle.
