Another telling comment by Bush in the debate . . . |
|
Toward the end of the debate, Bush tried to pretend to be gracious by saying "I appreciate the fact that his daughters have been so kind to my daughters in what has been a pretty hard experience for, I guess, young girls, seeing their dads out there campaigning."
Implicit in this was the suggestion that Kerry's daughters kindly took his own daughters under their wing and helped them handle the very difficult situation of being in the national political arena.
But wait a minute. The Bush girls are fourth generation political scions. They are the great-granddaughters of a prominent Senator, the granddaughter of a Vice President and President, the daughters of a governor and President, the nieces of another governor. They have been in the public and political arena since the day they were born (their grandfather was already Vice President when they were born).
On the other hand, while they grew up as the children of a Senator, this is the Kerry daughters' first go-round in the national spotlight.
So, what does it say about these two families that it is the far less experienced Kerry daughters who have reached out to and helped the fourth generation of the Bush family cope with the poitical world?
It says to me that the Kerry family is more gracious, more mature, and certainly more prepared for the presidency than the Bush family, despite the latter's sense of entitlement to the position.
Just a thought.

I didn't really think of that, but you're right. All the Kerry's are more poised and gracious than the Hooterville Brats.

2. Good thought! Here is another telling comment |
|
I read this at Koz and was stunned that even * could sink this low.
Kerry said 90 percent of cargo in Florida ports wasn't inspected, nor was cargo loaded in commercial flights, and that he would do better.
Here is Dumbya's answer to that:
"I don't think we want to get to how he's going to pay for all these promises."
So in other words, tax cuts for his wealthiest buddies is more important that that! Not to mention the BILLIONS that has been spent on this illegal war!

10. Kerry mentioned that in his speeches today ... |
|
That Bush's 'tax relief' actually relieved Homeland Security of having any funds to work with.

15. "how he's going to pay for all these promises." |
|
"So in other words, tax cuts for his wealthiest buddies is more important that that! Not to mention the BILLIONS that has been spent on this illegal war!"
The moment I heard the comment, I had the EXACT same thought. The arrogance and idiocy of that statement made me so angry.

4. I don't find that Bush remark offensive. |
|
He was just saying it can be stressful to be in the spotlight and he's glad the daughers are getting along.

8. I didn't think it was offensive either - just thought it said a lot about |
|
the two families - that it is the Kerrys who reached out to the Bushes to help them through this.

5. I thought the same...it was a little illogical, but a nice gesture by Bush |
|
But it definitely highlights more about the Kerry's than it does the Bush's.

treaty so OUR SOLDIERS WOULDN'T BE PROSECUTED.
Cowardly, lying, thievin' rat bastard.
I thought maybe the Kerry girls had held Jen and Babs hair while they vomited in the studio bathroom.
Nice post!

11. Even without Abu Ghraib, it would have been chilling to hear the POTUS |
|
joke about putting women on a leash because they talk too much.
But in light of Abu Ghraib, the comment was outrageous.
What an insensitive fool.
