My prediction for October Surprise: Big drop in oil prices
Bush announces that he has "persuaded" the Saudis to cut the price of crude oil in half.

What's your prediction?

1. I'm sure that's at least part of it...
they are gouging now to make up for profit drops when they lower prices.

today I had to buy gas and the one store I use was at $2.01. I knew there was another station by where I was headed, they wanted $2.12!

Needless to say, I got gas on the return trip at the original station.

3. Gasoline jumped 10 cents here this week.
Could it be the set up for this?

Oh, and Bin Laden will appear at the local 7-11 to pump it for you!

4. If Bush got it dropped in November, it would increase in December.
WAAAAAAAY too transparent.

People know he's a liar now.

7. I don't know...
There's a lot of clueless Americans out there. A lot of people who, if they got a price break on gas, would clap and say hurrah, and not question the gift.

You know and I know that long term gas prices are going up and staying there. We should be preparing for an oil-less future, and we're not. But most Americans are very short-sighted and incapable of seeing anything past their narrow self-interest.

9. Your contempt for your neighbors is very sad.
You might want to work on that.

5. Bush can't announce that the Saudis have done ANYTHING at his request
He can't remind us all that the Saudies are influencing him and his policies and the election.

8. cut oil prices in half? big deal
the big u.s. oil companies, who looooove the shrub, have been keeping gas prices down to help shrub get reselected.

by all rights, at $50/bbl, gas should be at LEAST a dollar higher thatn where it is. when oil was $25/bbl, gas was NOT half of where it is now.

so if they cut oil prices in half, gas prices won't dive that much. and GAS prices are what people vote on, not oil prices.
