I've noticed them doing the same "projection" thing again
I thought I'd check out the local RW radio shows (some nationally broadcast, so you probably heard it too) after the debate to see how they were spinning it. Sure enough, they were spinning how Bush "easily won" because of Kerry's "simplistic black and white view of the world."

Have you noticed this? From the chanting of "the fix is in" in Florida back in 2000 when it was they who did the fixing, I've noticed this tactic used repeatedly over the last four years. They attack the democrats for doing what they, the republicans, are actually doing. In this case, they accuse Kerry of having the very trait Bush is well known to have -- a simplistic black-and-white view of the world.

I'm beginning to wonder how much longer such a tactic can be effective. At what point do such non-sequiturs begin to lose their traction, even with people whose belief system relies on constant reinforcement with lies and spin.

This all reminds me of the dynamic one sees in families with an alcoholic member. There is this strange impulse to ignore the problem and to do everything necessary to hide (and deny) the reality of the situation.

1. I've had the same thought re: flip-flopping
Besides the fact that Bush is the one doing most of the flip-flopping (the projection thing), they've used the allegations of being a flip-flopper ad infinitum since Clinton's first run for national in '92.

How long can this tactic be effective, you ask? Well, most of the repukes I know, and at least one formerly solid Dem, willingly gobble up all the flip-flopper allegations. Only a few are catching on. After last night's debate, though, the Repukes whom I watched it with were DEFINITELY catching on to the wingnut "projection" tactics.

2. Hmmm, black & white ...
"You are with us, or you are against us".

Talk about black & white.

3. BINGO! One of their favorite tactics!
It's actually been very effective for them.

They accuse us of doing exactly what they're doing. It can backfire, though, because sometimes they project stuff that they're trying to do behind the scenes, and it helps expose them.

They're living in a fantasy world.

4. It's dueling realities.
One is real and one is false. Only by the results and the facts can we know which is real and which is a fake.
