There was only one candidate on stage at the debate...
...that knew how "hard" it is for the troops in combat in Iraq, and it sure as hell wasn't the one who learned all about it from watching it on the evening news!

"And now we're fighting them now. And it's hard work. I understand how hard it is. I get the casualty reports every day. I see on the TV screens how hard it is." - George W Bush. Oct 1, 2004. Presidential Debate on foreign policy.

Why am I not seeing more people hammering this?

1. That was just a clueless ...
statement for b* to make. It's disgusting. I don't know why these things seem to slip by some people.

3. It isn't that people don't notice

It's just that everybody already knows his strange and embarrassing sentences. People are used to him saying silly things. Here are two from Adventures in Bushspeak, About.com

"In my judgement, when the United States says there will be serious consequences, and if there isn't serious consequences, it creates adverse consequences." (February 8, 2004)

"I'm honored to shake the hand of a brave Iraqi citizen who had his hand cut off by Saddam Hussein." (May 25, 2004)

4. Yeah, he sees it on the TV screens...Sure
He's blocked seeing the deaths on TV screens. His message is just be happy and don't worry, as he forbids the body bags to be shown. For a true picture of what's happenning to our troops view www.icasualties.org

2. That line blew me away.
It was the most revealing line of the debate. Chimp is so detached from the mess he's created, he looks at it like a tv reality show with the troops as the contestants trying to outwit, outplay, outlast, and not come home in a goddamn box.
