.
It was during the debates, when Kerry was impressing the heck out of me--THIS would be the man to choose a few new Supreme Ct. Justices!

No, I don't know for certain Kerry will win, but it's looking very possible at this point.

That would make a difference in the country LONG after Kerry has served his 8 years as President.

The likely candidates to step down:
Justice John Paul Stevens
Possibly Justice Sandra Day O'Connor
And Rehnquist is 80 this year

Scalia might stroke out or something (born 1936)

2. I heard on radio that Scalia told a University that orgies were a good
thing to releave tension. What a freak if this is true.

4. Agree it's important--
--But I also think about all the other reasons why we simply must have Kerry as President, because with Shrub we can look forward to:

- Not just Supreme Court justices just like Scalia and Thomas, but also more rabidly right-wing Federal court judges
- The Federal budget exploding with red ink, as Bush and his friends rape it some more for their wealthy friends
- A Justice Department mostly interested in fascist grandstanding, as Ashcroft does
- Environmental law written by the very industries they're supposed to regulate
- Destroying the 'wall' between Church and State, essentially turning the U.S. into a Fundamentalist Theocratic state
- GLBT civil rights going out the door, including a likelihood of more pushes to make even legal paperwork between gay and lesbian couples invalid
- Heck, everybody's civil rights going out the door
- Bush's policy of 'extraordinary rendition' (giving suspects to foreign powers to torture)
- The Administration's own torture and detention policies in Guantanamo, Iraq, and elsewhere around the globe
- The Patriot Act, including their intent not only to renew it, but to demand even more powers
- Failure to secure our ports and borders
- Failure to deal with countries actively pursuing nuclear weaponry
- No-bid contracts to companies such as Halliburton
- More wars
- More men and women having their lives destroyed in illegal wars
- A likely return of the draft
- Abortion likely to be made illegal
- Most forms of dissent becoming increasingly illegal
- Increased likelihood of another terrorist attack like 9/11
- America becoming ever more hated in the world

6. We need to wrest control of Congress as well
For one, we'll never get anyone confirmed

And lately the republican Congress has begun to try and legislate what the judiciary can actually rule on. (See Pledge BS)

7. I think we'll take back the Senate
and my long-shot hope is that we can take back the House. Okay, I might be a bit of an optimist on this!
