Political commentary just sucks
Watching a PBS roundtable tonight, I became ill and just had to change channels. David Grogan and some other silly commentators were saying some of the darnedest things about the debate and it became obvious that this was nothing more than Bush apologists explaining his failure to articulate his strengths. Then they would say that neither candidate stated a clear exit strategy for Iraq. I recall Kerry mentioning that time constraints (90 Sec) was not nearly enough time to address this but that his website had his 4 major Iraq strategies at his website and he gave as brief a summary of the 4 points in the time available.

It reminds me of sports analysts running their mouths during a football game. Instead of giving the needed score, down and distance, and facts of the game, they ramble on and on about things that the patron cares nothing about. Sure, there was plenty of deadtime when Lindsay Nelson was covering a game, but it was much more enjoyable than now.

A friend of mine who found himself on an evening sports talk show, said that he was constantly warned that there was no deadtime in radio and that they must generate conversation at all times. This is akin to the political news commentaries now flooding the market. They have to talk and spin and analyze and recreate and fabricate, just to keep the blather going. It is pathetic.
