The media spin will not resonate with the folks who watched the debate. |
|
It just simply won't... Now the folks who did not watch the debate, now that's a different story.

The day after the debate, the debate is still fresh in our minds. No problem.
But three days later, all the people will remember is that the media, that great teet from which Americans nurse their views, has been feeding them the story that Bush and Kerry tied. Well, no, actually...Bush won. Wait...Kerry made a fool of himself, it was a massacre, Bush is the second coming.
We have to do something to show our strength.
Why not organize a boycott against companies that advertise on channels that are spinning the debate against Kerry? Let's fight fire with fire.

3. Everytime I think of the debate |

I think of Bush asking to respond and then staring at the camera for 5 seconds without making a sound.

4. you underestimate the power of the filter |
|
just watch the highlights that keep getting played over and over. They either play each candidates strongest moments side by side or their weakest moments side by side. All this is an effort to promote the story that it was a tie. In a tie, people don't change their minds. Currently Bush is enjoying a lead due to momentem from smear campaigns and the medias unwillingness to give Kerry the same quality of coverage they give Bush.
Democrats got lots of coverage during the primaries and Kerry did very well in the polls. Once the Democratic convention happened, Kerry became old news.
The debate performance made him front page material again, but the media is promoting it as a tie which at best is a third page story.

5. I hope the blatant RW media spin backfires on them bigtime |
|
Finally, the American people were given a chance to watch John Kerry and George W Bush directly for 90 minutes without the spin doctors and fog of media and TV ads that have been so critical of Kerry and easy on Bush. We didn't have to wait for a Michael Moore movie.
Not only was the event televised to a record number of viewers who know Kerry won but there was a clear winner expressed in the debate polls, focus groups and the comments of the media talking heads. The damning clips of Bush and concise remarks by Kerry were broadcast yesterday reinforcing the beliefs of those who saw Kerry win and influencing many more millions who missed the debate. The late night comedians will be reaching many more viewers.
I am hoping and praying the upcoming debates also favor Kerry although I am sure Bush's demeanor if not his answers will improve in the next 2 debates, since Bush has nowhere to go but up after Thursday night's disaster.

9. I agree with that assessment |

everyone i know that watched, especially cspan split screen viewers said not only that Kerry won but that Bush went down in flames. I think the press is afraid that they wont be able to sway public opinion on this one.

no matter what is suggested, people believe what they saw with their own eyes...the differences and distinctions cannot be cleared this time with the power of suggestion.

11. So, whats your motivation for writing this? |

"It just simply won't?" Wow, what a detailed analysis.....your opinion stated as a fact with nothing to back it up.
Have you noticed the attention span of Americans??

13. the media has its own ass too watch |
|
The news profession top to bottom pays well and the people who have these jobs don't want to lose them. Up to now they have been content to parrot the Bush spin on almost any issue on the theory that whats good for Bush is good for them also. It made sense to do what their bosses and owners wanted because shilling for Bushco = Bush in office = happy richer boss = happy richer newsperson = shilling for Bushco = Bush in office. A nice clean circle of win win win for everyone except the public.
I think Kerry really scared them the other day with his great performance in the debate and it started to dawn on some of the brighter ones amongst them that if Kerry wins that means a sea-change in public opinion and all the years of ass-kissing for Bush not only aren't going to pay off but may make them pay dearly. Common sense should tell most neocon biased reporters, pundits, anchors etc, that its not going to be the bosses who pay with their jobs, its going to be them as the bosses hire a sea of new faces to replace ones deemed out-of-touch in a Kerry presidency. So, much as they might be hearing their bosses cry to spin their hearts out with wild abandon about how Bush won the debate, some are doing it this time looking over their shoulder and half-heartedly at best AND IT SHOWS. These guys know Bush is a dumb ass who cant complete a sentence and that they look even dumber for always repeating what the Bush camp has said as if it were gospel. They know it can be very dangerous to their career right now. I've already noticed a few of the usual shills doing strange eerie things the last 2 days. Letting democrats finish a sentence for instance. I feel hope. It would be nice to get our media back as well as the presidency.
