Since Repubs like to talk about "Security Moms"
I wonder if Kerry hasd gained considerable ground amongst them. I would hope so, but I don't know about any polling.

btw: Who the heck ever came up with the idea of calling them "Security Moms?" :eyes:

1. It's a rovian construct....
He's pretending that there are masses of moms out there scanning the skies for the new terrorist attacks. If their "scare tactics" had worked better, he'd actually be talking about a small, but vocal, demographic.

The only "security mom" I've met in person are the ones that are afraid that their kids will be drafted.

2. Karl Rove is rumored...
...to have authored "security moms."

Kerry bringing up the danger of nuclear proliferation was a smart move on his part. In the minds of many there is suddenly a danger far more real and menacing than even terrorism. And it was something Shrub obviously hadn't given more than a moment of thought before Kerry rubbed his nose in it the other night.

I hope we hear a lot more along this line from John Kerry.

5. When Jim Lehrer asked "what is the biggest threat facing America today?"
I figured Kerry would say "nuclear proliferation."

3. the WashPost wrote that "security moms" seem to be a fiction
Here is Yesterday's article:

'Security Mom' Bloc Proves Hard to Find
The Phenomenon May Be a Myth

*snip*

According to the latest Washington Post-ABC News poll, married women with children are worried about the same issues that concern other voters. In fact, these women were no more likely than other voters to name terrorism, security or Iraq as their top voting issue.

About one in four married women with children -- 24 percent -- rated terrorism as their major concern. That is virtually identical to the proportion of married men and only slightly higher than the 21 percent of all voters who made terrorism their top voting issue. One in five -- 20 percent -- of all married women with children named Iraq as their major concern; overall, 19 percent said Iraq.

*snip*

By (Democratic pollster Anna)Greenberg's analysis, women most likely to be supporting Bush are married and have young children, a group that she said makes up 26 percent of all female voters. "We know that married white women are conservative," she said. "The notion that this is a group that is moving around is false. It's a conservative group of voters -- on security, social issues and taxes."

Greenberg also challenged the assumption that women are more likely than men to cite security as the issue that they care about most. "If you ask women what the most important issue is, it's dominated by economic issues, particularly health care," she said.

*snip/more

4. Wonder why we haven't heard anything about them..
since the debates.

I thought it was a mistake for Rove to fabricate this new voting segment in the first place. Why? Because you have to figure that a solid block of the Republican base is misogynistic men who vote for Republicans because women usually vote Democratic, even if it's subconcious.
