Gaylord Neslon endorses Clark
Edited on Sat Jan-10-04 12:48 PM by eyesroll
Clark's not my guy, I'll gladly vote for him in November if he gets the nomination. Gaylord Nelson is well respected in Wisconsin and among environmental circles, and he has nice things to say about all 9. A class act.

Congratulations, Clark supporters. :toast:

Former U.S. Sen. Gaylord Nelson, one of the state's most revered political figures, has decided to endorse Democratic presidential candidate Wesley Clark.

Nelson, who helped graft the roots of the Progressive Party onto the modern-day Democratic Party in the state and served as Wisconsin's governor and U.S. senator for more than 20 years, is set to formally endorse Clark today during a teleconference while Clark makes a campaign swing through Superior.

Nelson praised all nine Democrats seeking their party's nomination for president, but said Clark is "first-rate and has the best chance to win."

3. This is a great endorsement
On the environment, Clark would straighten out priorities with an emphasis on a vision for the future and trying to leave the creation better for our children. Clark sees the environment as a gift that should be taken care of and not squandered for short term econimic gain.

To get an endorsement from Gaylord Nelson is a nessage to all of us that Wes Clark has his heart in the right place on this issue.

4. that is extremely surprising to me
very good for Clark.

It should help him with the people worried about Clark's position on Depleted Uranium. But then again, I'm not sure if any of the others differe substantially from him on it.

6. is it really worth it?
It wouldn't be all that hard to read about this great environmentalist dem, all you have to do is click the link.

But I guess the fact that he didn't endorse your guy is enough to keep you from learning a little something.

7. here ya go, in the article
Nelson, the founder of Earth Day, said he decided to endorse Clark more than a month ago, in part because of his support from former Sen. Dale Bumpers who, like Clark, hails from Arkansas.

8. Fabuloso!!
Thanks so much. I hadn't seen this one. They do seem to like Wes in Wisconsin. This must make about 20 endorsements from that state.

This one's really special to me.

11. Congratulations!
He could be very helpful if he knows how to connect Progressives and Democrats. Anybody know how he did that?

14. Well he thinks Clark is
"...a forward-thinking young fellow.." :D

Says Dale Bumpers convinced him based on Wes's clean air and water ideas; beyond that dunno.
