Are New Jersey, Ohio and Maryland Being Set Up for the Steal?
Edited on Sat Oct-02-04 12:14 PM by indyjones1938
The more I read here on DU and elsewhere, I'm beginning to fear that these three states are being set up for the steal, and people here aren't paying much attention to it.

Maryland is 100% Diebold, and much of Ohio and New Jersey are as well.

In Maryland, the RNC has been spearheading an all-out push polling campaign, telling people that Kerry plans to "raise their taxes." Kerry should be up 10+ points here, but the two most recent polls have showed it a dead tie. One poll might be an outlier, but when you have two in a row, the situation demands some attention. When you add Diebold into the mix, the situation becomes very troubling.

In New Jersey, Kerry's 20+ point lead has dropped in recent weeks and now Kerry is only up by 1-2 points. Many of the counties in New Jersey are Diebold, and if his margin doesn't get above 3-5 points by November 2nd, the Diebold fix might be enough to give Bush the state.

Ohio is a horror story right out of a Stephen King novel. The CEO of Diebold has publicly stated that he is going to deliver Ohio for Bush. That alone should scare the hell out of us. But add to that the many fundie churches illegally spearheading voter registration drives, and the recent voter registrations being tossed in the trash, we're going to have some big problems on our hands here.

I know we shouldn't be doom-and-gloomish, but sooner or later we have to confront the facts. Between Diebold, push polling and voter registration problems, it seems that these three states are being set up for the steal. The question is what are we going to do about it. I can picture the streets of DC in riots on November 3rd if this election is stolen again.

2. NJ is going for Kerry. 10 points, 1 point, doesn't matter.
The electoral college screws us, but can also not screw us.

No worries here.

4. Misunderstood my entire point
I have no doubts that Kerry would take New Jersey, Maryland and Ohio under normal circumstances. But these are not normal circumstances.

We have to deal with:

-Diebold in all three states
-RNC push polling in Maryland
-Illegal voter registration drives in churches across Ohio
-Democratic voter registrations literally being tossed in the trash in Ohio

Of course this doesn't even scratch the surface. Things like this are taking place in all the swing states I'm sure.

If Kerry's poll numbers in New Jersey are 5 points or less above Bush's on November 2nd, the Diebold factor is going to kick in. Unless we take precautions now, New Jersey could be the Florida of 2004.

5. I was canvassing this morning in west side of Cleveland and we had
a dozen people from New York, New Jersey and Maryland that came simply to help canvas and campaign for Kerry becuase they considered their state to be sown up. They did not of any such concern.
