Fairfax Co. VA Event Report
Edited on Sat Oct-02-04 05:19 PM by autorank
My daughter and I manned a booth at the "Fall Fairfax" fair today (10/2). Fairfax County has about 1.0 million people in Northern Virginia. The booth had three times the number of volunteers expected. Everyone was pumped by the debates. Scads of people came by for stickers, yard signs, etc. and the contributions were both spontaneous and much higher than the county campaign expected for the event. At times, people were lined up to get stuff, volunteer, and give.

If anyone in authority is listening, please consider doing some television in Virginia. You have a highly motivated base.

3. Great to hear that
We are soooo close in some normally red states. I seriously think that another great Kerry debate performance and a good/great Edwards performance can put us over the edge in places like VA, AR, hell maybe even LA if their trend is toward Dem in their house and senate races as well. We are within 5-6 points in all those states (closer in AR even) and I think if Kerry can ride the tsunami of momentum that we will surprise some people come election day! But it starts with the dedication of people like you, so keep it up!

4. Playing in Centreville tomorrow..
It'll be interesting to see the mix in that part of the state.

I was on Maryland's Eastern Shore last week. Now THAT part of the country is terrifying. Bush-Cheney signs everywhere. (Deutsey: you still alive out there???)

6. I used to live in Centreville
not sure what the political make up is, but I suspect there are a lot of Republicans. It is a very upper middle / upper class town (along with Chantilly)

8. Northern Virginia is Cool
The mix here is good for just about anyone who wants to visit or live here. The Eastern Shore of Maryland is traditionally Republican, not at all like Northern VA. Hope your team wins!

7. polling was close ( 46-46 at one point ) there's a democratic
governor...Virginia's should be in play. Northern Virginia is growing very fast...it would overwhelm the southern bumpkin vote in my opinion.

9. Same experience at Art on the Avenue in Alexandria today.
TONS of people wearing Kerry-Edwards badges and taking yard signs home.
