Rove thinks Kerry's mocking of Bush makes the prez sound like Elmer Fudd

Bush senior adviser Karl Rove criticized Kerry for mocking Bush at a Tampa, Fla., rally on Friday using a voice Rove compared to the stuttering cartoon character, Elmer Fudd. He suggested it would backfire on Kerry.

"I saw the footage last night of his Elmer Fudd imitation and I thought it was demeaning and petty and certainly un-presidential, but if he wants to continue that for the next 31 days, I'd certainly encourage him to do so," Rove said.

Bush sometimes struggled to find the right words during the debate, an encounter many Americans thought Kerry won. Kerry was quoted in Tampa as saying, "He keeps trying to say, 'Well, we're-not-we-don't-no-we-don't-you-know, we don't want somebody who wants to leave"' Iraq.
