I'm going to say something that'll pi** you off. :ast VP debate was BS. |
|
I'm watching the Cheney Liberman debate on cspan just to see Cheney's style. Liberman reminds me of Shrub!
He looks weak & stammering, and Cheney looks stronger, and speaks with common sense.
That's not the way Cheney did his job as VP, but that's sure the way he looked in that debate!

...by conceding the rules and allowing the overseas military vote, which was 2500 votes, IIRC. He threw the election with that one stupid decision, which wasn't Gore's.

or a fool so i have no problem with that post. I have faith in Edwards, he's a very quick study and can think on his feet plus he's a great speaker and you know he's been prepping for this big time. I'd love to see Edwards really unmask Dick Cheney for all the world to see.

Leiberman was AWFUL in that debate. There was so much to work with on Cheney...one of only 2 (?) Congressmen to vote against HEAD START, just for openers... Cheney's comment that "the government had nothing to do with his success as CEO of Halliburton, when any person in government with half a brain know that the US government had EVERYTHING to do with it..much more. I was foaming at the mouth at the end of that debate.

won't piss off very many people. He was one of the reasons I voted for Nader last election. If by some miracle he had gotten the nomination this time, I would have already changed my party afiliation to Green, and be voting for Cobb.

7. Why would that piss anybody off? |
|
Cheney always seemed like he had his head straight enough to be consciously evil. He's the designer of the new robe the Naked Emperor put on in January of '01, after all.
Lieberman is, though, as someone noted, a putz. You just want to offer him some cheese to go with his whine. He's not a great speaker, no matter what moderate Dems think of his actual record (some of them like him, but even they couldn't possibly be so deluded as to think he's any kind of high-water mark of rhetoric).
I don't think Edwards will have the rhetorical weaknesses Lieberman showed. Whether he'll ultimately triumph is another matter, but his speaking ability isn't the thing I'm worried about.

31. It's the 'devil I don't know' that worries me. |
|
I wasn't worried about Kerry last week, either -- I was only worried that there might have been a rabbit for the Naked Emperor to pull out of his hat.
Let me put it this way -- if there's anybody who can make Dick Cheney say 'go f*ck yourself' on national TV, it's probably John Edwards. But I guess I figure if Cheney doesn't totally lose control of his faculties on national TV, the pundits will call it a tie or declare him the winner.
Frankly, I'm optimistic -- Edwards has a good chance of showing Cheney up, and doing it with great style. I'm just 'this much' afraid he won't, somehow.

He lost it BIG. It was that debate that convinced me Lieberman did not belong in any position of power.
I voted for Gore, anyway, but knew there was no way I could ever trust Lieberman after that debate.

|
by siding with Bush about Military Absentee Ballots which might have been bogus...as some here and elsewhere have speculated. He's been no friend to Dems, but he is right of Zell on the scale of Dem Values...so we shouldn't diss him too much...right...ugh!

Granted this Cheney/Lieberman "debate" is boring as hell, you're right. Cheney comes across as smart, strong, and stable.
Edwards has no problem in the charisma area and he's very sharp. This means that the only thing the GOP can do is try to peg him as young and imature.

It bothers me that people dismiss Edwards as being young too. What Edwards has going for him though (intellegence, wonderful speaker) should convince people that he obviously knows what he's talking about. I have a lot of confidence in him.
By the way, I LOVE your user name.

19. Lieberman's voice drives me nuts. |
|
I don't see how anyone could listen to him for 90 minutes. I thought he sucked as a candidate just because it was painful to hear him. Cheney is a good speaker, sounds bright (I didn't know he flunked out of Yale until recently -- but don't know the specifics), and has a powerful, aggressive style. I think he will do well in a debate. Edwards is a good speaker (although I must admit I was a bit disappointed in his DNC speech -- just expected more, I guess). It will be fascinating to watch! I think you couldn't find such polar opposites. Like a debate between Legolas and the evil emperor in Star Wars. Handsome youthful optimistic Edwards vs. fat, scowling, heartless Cheney.

|
Edwards is articulate, energizing to watch and frankly won't put you to sleep with the sound of his voice.
This one will be a little bit better. Besides it looks to me like Edwards doesn't like C* all that much, I look for Edwards to attack C* more viscously than we've seen in recent years. I think Edwards can get away with it, (not trying to be sexist) women like him, all the women I work with think he's a cute guy.
