Effects of Debate #1 on grassroots efforts
Edited on Sat Oct-02-04 08:07 PM by zulchzulu
I can't tell you how many times people today at the Madison Farmers Market (with +10,000 people) had positive thoughts about Kerry.

I heard stories from people who had their Republican friends say they were now voting for Kerry because they were too embarrassed about Bush. Even Bush people looked mute and confused.

We gave out at least 1200 lapel stickers, 200 buttons, 100 new signatures to volunteer, 40 new registered voters or amended addresses to vote...from a well-stocked table to where we'll need to beg the HQ for more merch.

I played the debate on a laptop and at one point there were about a dozen people watching, laughing and cheering when Kerry kicked Bush's ass. Many passed by and demanded stickers, buttons and wanted to sign up to register to vote or volunteer.

It was wonderful. We have the Big Mo now!

1. Big Mo', excellent.
Sounds like a great day.

I have been feeling energized, too, and I was not that down about the polls to start with. It is just great to see the naysayers start to see the stuff about Kerry that I thought was great all along.

2. You told us Kerry was going
to do well and guess what? :toast:

Thanks for that pre-emptive report, zulch.

And this report is great,too..sounds like you had a lot of fun in Wisconsin today. Wisconsin should be proud of being the chosen "debate" practice place for Florida.

5. Same here in Ohio
Our canvassing effort produced fantastic results for Kerry today.

We were targeting voters with a sporadic record who had indicated they were undecided in phone polls earlier.

A lot of fence sitters were clearly pushed over to our side. More people let me put yard signs in their yards today which I interpret as not only disliking Bush, but being pleased with and proud of John Kerry.

The next debates aren't going to be nearly as important.
