Why there's nothing to lose in the VP debate.
Kerry set the table for us. He kicked chimpy square in the head. So here's a few various scenarios for VP debate:

1) Edwards comes off as charming and smart. He beats Beelzebub easily, tying him to Halliburton et al.
***Talk about momentum for us. Hah! Their puppet master just got his ass handed to him. So their real president (Cheney) can't even defeat our VP nominee. And we don't need to talk about our two presidential nominees, do we?

2) There's a push: Cheney seems manly; Edwards seems smart.
***O.K., can we talk about the presidential debates again? Or should we just say: yeah, too bad Beelzebub isn't your nominee.

3) Cheney wipes the floor with Edwards, makes him seem like a real lightweight.
***Too bad Beelzebub isn't your nominee. Why doesn't shrub have a handle of the issues like VP Moloch there? Perhaps, like the 9/11 commission, Kerry will agree to debate both men on Friday. Cheney's gravitas simply unmasks the unbearable lightness that is the chimp.

You see where I'm going. I hope Edwards just lets it rip. The VP debate is no-lose for us.

Am I missing something here?

2. I just want John Edwards to go at Big Dickless...
Edited on Sat Oct-02-04 10:46 PM by GainesT1958
The way he went at the lawyers for the company that produced that pool drain which disembowled that little girl in Cary (N.C.), in his closing arguments in that case. If on Monday night he gives ANYTHING like that performance, Cheney will be wishing mightily that he'd never bothered to emerge from his bunker.:D

And who knows? Maybe the sound people will do us all a favor, and pick up Cheney muttering "Go F*** yourself!" under his breath during Edwards' time to speak!:eyes:

:kick:

B-)

3. Its desperation time for the thugs
cheney will be ugly and stupid. Senator Edwards just needs to let cheney be himself. I do believe if dick decides to be a dick, the Senator will rhetorically kick his ass. After tuesday night, the white house will go into overdrive and eventually implode. Their fear will turn to losing the congress, which will result in republicans going to jail. The whiff of desperation indeed.

4. I'm confident option #1 will occur
Edwards does have a good opportunity to demonstrate how he acts under fire. I'm sure the years in the courtroom have left him quite capable of winning an argument. He also gets the opportunity to look Presidential himself. We'll probably see a slouchy sweaty Dick Cheney, and when Edwards stands up proudly and speaks eloquently, he'll win this thing in a landslide.
Edwards looking Presidential is the most important thing that can happen. Even more important than bringing Cheney down.

5. Maybe but I don't want to give * the satisfaction about when he said
that Cheney could be president. I want Edwards to remind America why it doesn't really like Cheney. (Plus all his crookedness!!)

I kind of agree
Certainly if Cheney does well it may actually reinforce the image of him being the puppeteer, but I don't think it will come to that.
Edwards has made a living (literally) demolishing people like Cheney. He's been through a whole lot worse and he's fearless.

8. Cheney has got a bad temper.
Would be nice if Edwards could reduce Cheney to screaming profanities, wouldn't it?

9. Can we squandor a little post debate bounce capital?
I would love to see Edwards tear Cheney up, no holds barred! It would be a good test to determine whether the Amerikan people really are as brainwashed an uninteresed as they seem...or are they just waiting for SOMEONE to speak up and get it on the real tip....finally!

10. How much do you want to bet
Cheney starts off with a line about how much better looking Edwards is, but he won't hold it against him. Getting in a dig while trying to set the same tone as 2000, like it's some down-home chat between buddies.

The difference is, Edwards will not take the bait like Lieberman did.
